I was just wondering if anyone noticed the update to Oldsmobile's website. Basically just a paragraph and some links, but it at least works unlike the previous website that was flash based from 2004.

P.S. Now that I look, they basically updated it to the same template as the Pontiac/Saturn/Hummer websites. About time though.

aww i so miss Oldsmobile, we had a 03 Polo Green Bravada and it was so nice. I grew up in Oldsmobiles, its pretty much the only car my family bought. Glad to be currently restoring a 1972 Cutlass Supreme...keeping the Oldsmobile nameplate alive in our garage.

It is my understanding that GM did not renew the rights to the "Oldsmobile" name, and a Japanese company now owns it. For what it's worth.

I know! That car still looks sweet 10 years later. It wouldn't hurt Buick to take a few design cues from her late sister.

And the interior! A Buick sedan didn't surpass this until the 2010 LaCrosse. You might could be nice and say the original LaCrosse/Lucerne were at least as good. Even so this car came out 4/5 yrs before either of those two.

I had a 2003 Alero which was my best car I ever owned (better than my Honda Accord, and my 2 cobalts). I did not have any quality issues, build quality issues, or mechanical issues with the Alero (unlike my two cobalts). Some people may call it a re-badged grand am but it looked better, didn't have plastic cladding, and the head rests did not have a huge whole through them (ever try taking a nap in one, my brother's grand am seat headrests were very hard). I would probably be buying another GM as my next car if Olds still existed instead of shopping at Ford/Chrysler.

Yes I agree the interior was awesome in thoes. My buddy has 2 1st gen Lacrosses and i think the interior is so bad in thoes, plain and cheap looking. Thoes Aurora interiors were so nice and very comfortable. Sadly Buick did not fill the void left from Oldsmobile until just reciently. Nowonder why so many Oldsmobile owners went to other non GM brands for their next car.

I owned a gen 1 Aurora 4.0 for all of a week, but the car had a major issue and given the option to keep it or purchase an STS I went for the STS. I loved everything about the Aurora including the smoother in some ways 4.0 Aurora V8.
I want a car so violent that the mere thought of full throttle would cause a heart attack. That actually going wide open throttle in would result in nothing less than instant death!

I will echo the sentiments towards the 2nd gen Aurora's. Beautiful inside and out.

FWIW, my family were multi-generation Olds drivers since the early 1900's.

I actually have the ambition to own a 1983 Hurst someday:

Am I the only one who liked the gen 1 Aurora in many ways compared to the Gen 2?

Give me a Gen 1 Aurora over a Gen 2. I would have one now if they were RWD. Unfortunately, they weren't. I really wanted one. I love the Aurora V8. It was used in the Shelby Series 1. Definitely been keeping my eyes open for one of those to come around on the used car market. I for one appreciate a well constructed backside like the Gen 1 Aurora has.

I felt that the Gen 2 Auroras while better inside and nicer cars , were just not as unique and distinctive as the gen 1 cars as if something was lost in translation. The reason I don't own one today is because they had similar issues to most Northstar cars and I prefer the Northstar STS if forced to put up with the possibility that the car may self destruct.
