As many of you who’ve hung around these parts for some time may know, frequent commenter and occasional contributor Leon Dixon is perhaps one of the most knowledgeable guys out there on Creative Industries, the shop that handled plenty of concept car and prototype builds that the Detroit carmakers either wanted to keep secret or couldn’t be bothered to build themselves.

Lately, Leon’s been turning that expertise into a book on Creative Industries, one which is scheduled to be released this summer. But he’s still got some work ahead of him, including the identification of this mid-engine concept car which he came across while digging into the company.

It looks like a Pontiac version of the Buick Reatta to me, but clearly not with the engine setup.

Pentastars, Wha... ? they look like the Pontiac shield. Take a closer look at the little RED TRIANGLE SHAPED THINGS on those wheels.

Looks similar to the 1990 Fiero prototype.

I think it looks better than the flat butt Fiero.

It does, and IMO almost as good as the "fastback" pillared GT model did.

I think this is the concept car for the pillared version.

This reminds me of seeing and sitting in the '88 Pontiac Banshee one night when it was in Olds Experimental. It was upstairs for some reason in a room. We flipped on the power and checked out the Heads Up, and then some guy tried to start it and I got out of there fast after that.

An all billet machined engine and block, early DOHC; it was something to behold, back then. The rear design elements became the early 2000's Trans Am.
