I got this e-mail as well. Will give my dealership for being up with the corporate message. While I was getting and oil change/tire rotation last week the Finance manager was telling me that they just got their first Regal Turbo in.

Several of us Pontiac owners have expressed dissatisfaction that we seem to have been forgotten when our cars were discontinued. This seems to be a step towards correcting that with a special lease rate on the Regal.

I hope I receive this email offer just so I can respond directly to GM marketing. My 221 HP base G6 V6 lease is about to end and the new Regal is the only rational similar GM replacement. That said, the similar HP turbo 4 is priced considerably higher then my G6, has no better fuel economy or torque, weighs more and only comes in boring shades of bland. Short of a stupid cheap lease, my wallet won't let me make that irrational leap of purchase. TRY AGAIN!!

Yeah, I demand discounts on products when I lose money on the company's stock, never mind the fact that any investment has some degree of risk.

And any new high dollar auto purchase also comes with risk. I too lost money on GM stock only making it even more difficult to consider buying another new GM vehicle when the company has continually dissed my longstanding loyalty. A TRUE discount would be a nice peace offering.

So being new to the lease game could someone verify/disprove my reasoning? In the email I received, it offered a Regal CXL for $239 a month with zero down. Not long ago I received a GM card bonus in the mail that would give me about $1400 towards a lease or new car. Would I be able to get that down from $239? If so, what would it be approximately?

Yes, the $1400 would lower your payments, roughly $35 month on a 39 month lease. I did this on my current lease.

Have you driven the Regal yet? As much complaining you do about the car I just want to know if you have driven one.

Coming from a G6 to a Regal would be a huge step up especially in the interior and road feel of the car. With the turbo, youd probably get a much better SOTP feel as well.

As far as the lease, that is damn good deal.

Two hunnert a month for a Regal? Is that the turbo?

If I ever get this offer, which I won't, can I use it on an Optima turbo? Just askin'.

It is the base CXL R1... so no turbo.

I refuse to drive the current 182HP Regal until the turbo stick is available as I just don't want to waste the salesman's time. However twice during oil changes on both my G8 & G6 I have sat in and examined a few CXL's at length. It certainly has a nicer overall interior(especially the door panels) then my well optioned G6 and I bet it does feel more "sporty" SOTP but I just can't get past the mundane color options, much higher MSRP, and lack of power/economy. My sport package G6 V6 has nicer wheels, much more horsepower/torque with similar fuel economy, feels roomier inside and doesn't have the cheap stick on side repeater lights. If new GM intends to properly target Pontiac owners they need to offer a high value, affordable, turbo sport package in brighter colors with nicer wheel options.
