2008 Pontiac G8 GT: Is It Really Better Than the Accord?

Since there is so much hate going around about the G8, just thought I would give it some positive light.

I know everybody says Inside Line is biased towards GM, they really seem to like the G8. They have one as one of there long-term testers.

Even the comments are great. You can definitely tell who the Honda fan boys are.

"Of course, the answer is yes. By a lot. As soon as I got into our long-term 2008 Pontiac G8 GT, I was immediately reacquainted with all the reasons someone might want to own something more fun than a front-drive, midsize sedan. The G8 feels much quicker (because it is) and throttle response is much more aggressive. And you can tell the chassis is something special, even just driving around town."
    Current Whips:

    2006 GMC Sierra 1500 4x4 (Z71, 80,000 mi, leather,5.3 )
2007 Kawasaki KLX 250 (street legal dual sport, 70 mpg, woo hoo!)
    2011 Dodge Charger (3.6 V6)

Can the G8 cure cancer??, with it's portly body and petro swilling ways I doubt it...I know the Accord can do just that;and that my friends wins hands down in my book.
Just go stand by a microwave oven and the jump in an Accord then get tested for radiation contamination afterwards and you will be a believer as well.

Having ridden in a G8, I like it a lot better than my aunt's '08 Accord. The Accord's center stack looks like a saggy breast. Long live the Atari Gauges!

    Wait...what?

The Pontiac G8 is being compared to the Honda Accord? Seriously?

I thought the G8 was RWD...no? The Accord, I know, is FWD...so, not quite sure why the 2 cars are being compared...?

Either way, heck yes the G8 is better!

The last generation Accord was actually quite a pleasure to drive. Very well connected to the road, good handling, and exceptional build.

I think you may have mistaken Accord for Corolla or Kia. The Accord is far more than appliance. It drove infinitely better than the last generation Malibu. I've not driven the new one, so I can't say.

I wasn't impressed with the new Accord, but I'm just being objective here, giving credit when due.

Re: 2008 Pontiac G8 GT: Is It Really Better Than the Accord?

    What a bizarre comparison.

Different classes of car. But if you really must compare the two, it's like a Ruth's Chris Steakhouse meal (G8) vs. a can of Spam (Accord).
Drives a 2019 Cadillac ATS Coupe and a 1988 Pontiac Trans Am GTA.

In the past, I've had a 5th gen Camaro, a CTS sedan and coupe, two 3rd gen Firebird Formulas, a convertible 4th gen Trans Am, a Reatta, a couple of Monte Carlos, an Avenger coupe, a couple of Cavalier hatchbacks, a Saturn SC1, and a Cherokee.

Aren't they about the same size, seat four, and come in at around the same price with comparable options? I understand their overall missions are different, but it isn't like they are comparing a Cobalt to a Ridgeline.

Yeah, I think in insidelines fleet of cars, these two are the most related. Roughly same size, price, options, etc.

He isn't really comparing them, he is just saying if he had his choice as a daily driver, he would take the Pontiac.

Not a fan of the Accord, now the G8 I would buy if I was in a position today. I drove a GT and it was a fantastic car.
