My Dad really didnt have a lot of vehicles in the time he drove which was about 45 years.
1955 Plymouth Savoy. Just a beater to get him around in high school.
1963 Impala Super Sport. He loved this car and thus it was one of his favorites when we would talk cars. The transmission went out and he traded it. He always said in hindsight he should have kept it and fixed it.
1968 Impala 2-door formal roof. He liked this one too but not as much as the 1963. The 307 engine started hogging oil right at 100,000 miles. Seems this was common on those Chevrolet 307 engines. It also rusted around the rear wheelwells.
1970 Bel-Air 4-door. He was dissapointed in this car. It was a rustbucket. I remember him constantly fixing rust on this one. The frame at the end was pretty bad also. Welded thr right side but the left was nearly gone. Before that happened the engine blew a head gasket at 93,000 miles. It had a 350 which made him surprised it did that.
1978 Impala 4-door. This car made up for the 1970. The body held up really well, the marginal 305 held until 136,000 miles which is more than the past ones did. Sold it with 146,000 miles still running perfectly.
1985 Caprice(I have this now). Another of his favorites. Bought it in May of 1990 with 75,000 miles. It now has 120,230 miles on it. Rebuilt transmission and a few other things but it is in great shape.
1992 Olds Cutlass Ciera. This one was the other dissapointment. The 2.5 liter 4 cylinder used oil and it neede front brakes every 30,000 miles or so. It replaced the 1978 Impala.
1996 Buick Centry. He traded the 1992 for this and it was basiclly the same car but it fixed a few things the 1992 had. This one had the 3.1 liter V6 and it was better on brakes.
2002 Impala. He had the Centry in for some injector work when he found a good deal on a new 2002 tan Impala. His first brand new car and he was thrilled.
2005 Equinox. He found the Equinox easier to get into with his bad knees and he liked a lot of other things about it. He got a good lease deal on it so he went for it. He died a little more than 2 years into the agreement and Mom just gave it back.
She bought a 2007 Aveo.
