So quarter mile times are essentially a draw. And in most other performance measures, Camaro SS is comparable to 2020 Supra.

Where Camaro SS wins in my book (beyond the price advantage) is that it offers a real manual transmission.

I'm going by the CURRENT Camaro SS Automatic versus the CURRENT Supra Automatic.. I can bullsh!+ all I want.. but a driver with as much skill as me vs me in a equal powered auto Z06 vs my manny Z06.. he's gonna win

the Camaro, as U even state, does it faster and quicker, for less money, and looking waaaay better

Right...when you get near/over the 500hp mark, 0-60 becomes a measure of how good your tires are.

Pretty much.. or how well U throttle the pedal LOL.. I posed this as a thread on MT Forum (before they killed the forum in 2015) about 10 years ago.. and they made it an article.

THIS is what the rushed refresh-of-the-the-refresh looks like on the SS:

I would have preferred that BMW had made a proper clown shoe than let Toyota-san crap out this monstrosity.

The only way Supra pulls off those times is with a DCT, and pilot cup twos.. there is no way around physics. Are you going to say the ZF auto shifts faster than the GM 10 speed? Are you going to claim this Supra has a superior torque curve to an LT1?
I suspect in the real world (where we all live) this Supra gets hammered by a 2.0 liter Camaro 1 LE.

The Supra has the advantage of weighing a good deal less then an SS Camaro.

Yes. ZF 8HP > GM 10L80 and BMW B58 > GM LT1 any day, every day.

Still, my pick would be a manual transmission Camaro.

Camaro weighs 3,354 to 4,113 lbs
Supra weighs 3372 lbs, therefore, depends on the car, a Turbo 4 Camaro has the weight advantage

According to Motortrend, Toyota claims 4.1 secs to 60 for the Supra, they do not give theirs for they have not instrument tested. Where is Car and Driver getting 3.8 to 60 and traps speeds like it claims?

Also, Toyota is rather ambitious with those numbers, identical to Mustang GT350

So...just to make sure I'm understanding everything correctly. GM slaps 4 305 width p zero trofeo rs on a 4000lb gen 5 Camaro it runs miracle times and it's a result of chassis engineering by the "best sports car maker in the world". But when ToyoMW runs decent times on sticky tires its solely because of the tire. Look I'm all about a discussion but let's keep it consistent.

Just to be clear I'm not a fan of the supra, mostly because it looks terrible and IMO a lazy effort by Toyota, I say that because I feel they should've built off the Lexus RC.

The topic has ALWAYS BEEN "BS from Car and Driver.. Again." ironically almost every time a BMW is involved.. this time even when they rebadge it as a Toyota.

The issue was obvious. On PRICE? Why not match to a comparable Camaro? But the part that pissed me off was the part that said, if a Camaro owner wanted the same type of performance they could go aftermarket and slap turbos on the 3.6L but they would then have a Camaro with a voided warranty. 😕 Well why not just buy an SS or LT1 and have more power, better performance, better looks. and still be cheaper
