Cadillac not at Washington auto show?

I went to the Wash.auto show for the first time in a number of years. Surprised that Cadillac wasn't there. Neither was Mercedes. How long has that been going on? Anyone have a link to an article which explains it?

Car makers in general have been pulling back from Auto shows the last 5 years

I recall a LOT of auto makers pulled out during the POST BK era around 2010 and would reserve such shows for BIG releases and a LOT LESS to put cars in front of eyes (face it the internet is good for that)

Last year('16) I went to the motor Trend show in Vegas over the Thanksgiving weekend and I noticed the same thing. Can't remember for sure but I think Chrysler & Co. wasn't in it.

Cadillac isn't listed in the Dallas auto show neither which takes place the week of valentines. They haven't had cars in the drive event for 2 years now. I was wondering if it was about timing because the auto show for Dallas takes place a month early.

Wow. I'm really surprised. Last time I went to DC show was in January 2013 when I lived in VA. It was a pretty good show. Probably the best I've been to. Cadillac was definitely there back then.

Both Cadillac and Mercedes-Benz exhibited at the 2017 Washington Auto Show (and in years past), so the change took place this year.
One possible culprit: JLR inaugurated its "Jaguar Land Rover Test Drive Experience" at the 2018 Washington Auto Show. They used up 100,000 square feet of space on the lower level for this. Yup, inside the convention center. Apparently, it took away space available for other brands' exhibits; Mercedes-Benz and Cadillac were casualties.

Both Mercedes-Benz and Cadillac will be at the Chicago Auto Show in a few weeks, with Cadillac offering test drives right outside McCormick Place. You can fly from BWI to ORD on Spirit Airlines for less than $80 roundtrip that week.

Correct. WANADA sponsors the Washington Auto Show.

Future NAIAS should be held in Washington DC rather than Detroit. Washington is a MUCH nicer place to visit in any season, and especially in January. Plus the Walter E. Washington Convention Center is among the best convention centers around. In 2019, the Washington show will be held in April, coinciding with the city's Cherry Blossom Festival.
