    2012 Fuel Economy numbers posted

Here is a screen shot from www.fueleconomy.gov

Looks like the 3.6L Impala is a little better than expected but the eAssists came up a mile or so short on the highway MPG. Good to see the bump on the 2012 Cruze confirmed.

GMI staff, can anyone confirm or deny the accuracy of these?

Considering a first gen LaCrosse (W-body with near identical weight to Impala) with the four speed and 3.6L was rated (using 2008 standards) at 17/25, the Impala numbers are pretty good.

It's interesting that the eAssist models are being classified as hybrids. Presumably the ratings consider any EV operating mode to constitute a hybrid drivetrain.

Wasn't it 37 highway for e-assist? And classified as hybrids... Not good.
When will Caddy give me a chance to buy one?

I knew it would be 30mpg. Good number for the Cruze also. Next year give it DI and reach the magic 40!!

Yeah, 30 looks good on the Impala considering the 3.6L Malibu is still at 26 highway. The numbers appear accurate, as I've seen 2012 Cruzes on the lot, and they are rated at 26/38. Surprised the non-Eco stick is also rated at 26/38...I was hoping for a little bump.

No! Why is the EPA calling E-assist hybrids? Liberal media is gonna be all over that making fun of "Government Motors'" hybrid's which aren't as good as the Prius!

I wouldn't give up hope on the Regal's hwy rating just yet. The original fueleconomy.gov rating for the Regal 2.4 was 29hwy then the turbo stick was 30. They currently say 30 and 32, respectively. I don't know why they change, but sometimes they do.

About the hybrid thing, I don't suppose there is another appropriate category.

Anybody notice that they now have the 2.4 I4 in the Malibu listed as the 182hp SIDI engine when we clearly know that the 169 hp carryover engine is going into the short year 2012 Malibu.

Clearly the EPA does have some errors on it's site.

True, but EV mode or not the eAssist vehicles are hybrids after all so it's a justified rating. The ratings maybe won't look that good next to an MKZ Hybrid or like "full hybrid", but then you aren't paying out the *** for the eAssist cars.

Yep, but as Hater stated this is subject to change IIRC.

I dont think you pay extra for the eAssist.. but the extra torque should be nice when you are crusing at the hwy with the engine doing 1700rpm, you try to pass someone and the AT is slow to step down.
