I'm sure GM did that on purpose!
If your GM card earnings do begin to expire in Jan then your best bet is to purchase in Dec between Christmas and NYE. Are your earnings already expiring? If not, your earnings only expire per month meaning you would only "lose" whatever you earned in Jan 7 years ago if you choose to wait til then.

Yes, they expire monthly, so starting in November, the November '13 credits will fall off as the new November '20 credits come on. But somewhere in there is that extra $1k. I need to pull my old GM card statements. I know they gave it to me right after I bought my ATS in November '13 - GM trying to put some pressure on to get people to replace their car in 7 years. Only downside to their marketing is they need to send out reminders - I bet most people who got that 7 years ago long since forgot they have it and it will fall off.

I've never waited the full 7 years to purchase, but I'm fairly certain any "bonus" earnings(if used toward your purchase at the time) should not fall off your current earnings unless they were just added to your card as some sort of promo. I've never been offered a promo such as that.

I also want a CT4 V AWD that comes in around $50k, most of what I'm seeing has sunroofs and other options I don't want which drive most of them up to $55k. I'm thinking if I wait for the deals then I'd be forced into a more expensive vehicle, I'd lose the extra $1,000 GM card $$, but I might be able to get a better deal on those $55k cars and end up in the same place with more bells in whistles. Though I'm wondering how much those deals might be and if I'd ultimately end up paying more than my desired $50k.

Any thoughts on that? You definitely have more experience in buying cars....
Losing the points and getting a CT4 V AWD that is not all loaded-up, are the two biggest sticking points for you.

Since you keep your cars a long time, I'd order one, that way you aren't paying for stuff you don't want, hopefully it shows-up before you lose your points.

I recall one of my trucks, had a $1,000 sunroof, that I could care less about, but got an extra $2,000 off so didn't really matter; but the extra $2,000 off was really only $1,000 less than what would have been.

Gotta admit this is more than 21% off. Scary great deal!

Or is it 21%?? Gotta do the math real fast hahah.
This is what I was looking at; SLE with AWD and Navigation: https://www.romainbuick.com/VehicleD...-IN/3756793633

I get employee, so should be a bit cheaper than that.

It'll eat at you. Kind of how I felt after paying $41k for my $46k Enclave then finding out a few months later, I could've gotten the same car for $36k. It sucks

Keep in mind that 26k is before any negotiations...so it's entirely possible that someone can walk out with this car for $24k
True, but when rebates are high, and vehicles are selling quickly, the dealers don't have to kick in as much, so the "net" difference isn't as big as it would seem.

Regarding the Terrain, my neighbor has been mildly shopping then since spring, rebates have bounced around $3,000 - $4,500 most of the year, so $6,000 isn't a massive increase, and if the dealer doesn't budge, vs. before when they would, even less. Additionally, it is almost a year-old model, the guy that bought a 2020 Terrain last November got more for his trade than he would today, so net purchase price isn't much different.........

Most of the people that haven't bought a new GM in 7 years, have already bought 2 or 3 Kia's or Ford's; GM's all but forgot about you!

Stop procrastinating, figure out if/when that $1,000 expires and find one, or order one quick!

Your ATS has served you well, don't ruin that................

I hate those SLE wheels. They look even cheaper in person.

    But.... It's a screaming deal.

Everyone would be happier if GM just priced the car correctly

I have the original GM card, as much as they tried to get me to upgrade, I won't. The original card accumulates up to $500 a year for 7 years (5% of every purchase), so max is $3,500, but they gave me that extra $1k. Used to be really nice when I could accumulate up to $1k a year for 7 years!
