GMC Terrain adds AT4 trim, completing the set
    Joins just-announced 2021 Yukon AT4 and GMC Canyon AT4

"AT4 all of the things!" is GMC's new rallying cry, as the brand has announced that the off-road-themed trim level is coming to the GMC Terrain midsize SUV. The Terrain will join the just-announced 2021GMC Yukon and the 2021 GMC Canyon midsize pickup, both of which add an AT4 variant for the first time.

The model designation was introduced on the Sierra full-size pickup for 2019, and spread to the Sierra HD and to the Acadia three-row crossover for 2020.

AT4 content, however, varies widely by model. In the Sierra full-size pickup, the trim level brings a full slate of off-road gear including a two-inch suspension lift, a two-speed transfer case for the 4WD system, a locking rear differential, hill-descent control, Rancho shocks, skid plates, off-road tires, and more. The Acadia AT4, meanwhile, includes little more than standard AWD, black wheels and exterior trim, and all-terrain tires.

Re: GMC Terrain adds AT4 trim, completing the set

I know we're seeing the AT4 variant, but I'm wondering if this is also part of a larger refresh of some sort.

Knowing how cheap GM gets with things, I don't think they'd increase the size/change the shape of things like the grille or headlamps just for one trim level of a product. Rather, they'd use the existing "cut outs" and just slap in a different grille or revised headlamp cluster within the existing footprint.

From what we see here, thought, not only are the headlamps and grille sizing/design different from the existing non-AT4 versions of the Terrain, but the lower fascia is different too.

Instead of just showing the AT4 for 2021, could this actually be the revised/MCE'd Terrain, but just showing off the AT4 badging/grille?

And so there we have the 2021 Terrain. Significant lighting changes, top and bottom which will be common to all trims. Shocked that pics were released so early

It is. Both Equinox and Terrain are getting MCEs for 2021.

I knew the Equinox was, but not the Terrain. For some reason I had it in my head that the Equinox debuted first, and would get it's MCE earlier.

Let's hope that there are interior/powertrain updates as well. I know others may disagree, but these are huge sellers for GM and they need to stay on their game as competitors roll out new metal (Escape) or have nice MCEs of their own.

To me that front just doesn't "fit" on that vehicle. It's not square enough. Looks great on the trucks and new Yukon's, but not feeling it here...

Considering the rest of the family, I guess we should have expected this. Now the Acadia looks out of place.

Probably no major interior changes though the fake wood on the Denali could be replaced with genuine wood. The fake wood is REALLY Fisher Price bad.

How about OFF ROAD! tags. That's good for five to 10,000 sales per year. Just trying to help here.
