Re: Winning at Sebring in an Olds

Love Oldsmobile, my favorite division despite it being a corporate walking corpse for much of my life.

The Aurora was cool, but I can't help but think of the engine as just a watered down Caddy. Still cool though, if a bit problematic.

I do recall around that time we shopped Aurora's, 88 LSS's, and the Bravada. Ended up picking a '97 Bravada, ironically the least Oldsmobile like one of the three, for the AWD. I do remember LSS's were hard to come by even then, I liked them for what they were.

    Rest In Peace, Rocket Division.

When it turned fastest lap it qualified on the bi-pole. It's bi-polar.

Never got over Oldsmobile and Pontiac going out the way they did. I wish they had more effort put into saving them. Olds V8's (Gen 2's) where the smoothest running out of all the divisions from what I experienced.

I believe the Saturn division had a lot to do with the decline of all the other GM divisions, and poor Oldsmobile became the target. Oldsmobile was my favorite division also.

I always felt they could have saved both by merging the two together. They had similar design themes and Saturn could have become the small car side of things at Oldsmobile. YOu could have had an Oldsmobile Saturn SL, an Oldsmobile Aurora and an Oldsmobile Bravada. Oh well...
Sometimes doing it all isn't enough.
