CTS-V Coupe Headed to SCCA World Challenge

CTS-V Coupe Headed to SCCA World Challenge

Cadillac will return to racing with a two car team in the SCCA World Challenge, echoing previous efforts at LeMans and the former Speed World Challenge series.

The new team will be a factory backed effort fielding two CTS-V Coupes. Drivers and other personnel haven’t been announced yet, but top drivers such as Andy Pilgrim previously piloted the CTS-V sedans that appeared in World Challenge a couple years ago.

Well... the CTS-V of yesteryear did a great job... let's hope that the new CTS-V is no different!

In the sea of new automotive faces,
there's nothing like the appreciation and beauty of an older model. Let's represent!

So GM will be racing the same powertrain in all these series(s) eh? Whats up with that? Cadillac needs either to go to prototype Le Mans or perhaps go to F1 or indy. Let Corvettes take care of business at Le Mans, Camaro over at Grand Am..They can also join DTM..

Cadillac should not be duking it with Mazda and other lowly brands.

As fast as mine is, the LSA-powered CTS-V is incredible. I think it should be showcased in as many venues as possible and beat up on as many foreign brands that it can.

I guess it's pretty much official now; Cadillac is chasing BMW. Hmmn.

I agree with you, mbukukanyau. This is a waste of money.

SCCA should be for Camaro. Cadillac should be the brand out beating the world at Le Mans.

They won't be duking it out with Mazda, and the like. They will be duking it out with cars such as the Viper, Corvette, S60-R, GT-R, GT3, M3, etc. The events that this series runs at usually brings in a decent share of 'higher end' sponsors, that a Cadillac like this would appeal to.

And regards to Le Mans, GM currently doesn't have an engine that would be competitive for a Cadillac-badged prototype (the rules say so, sadly).

I like that Cadillac is sending the coupe into the ring. Maybe they can get into the German supercar group also. Remember, race on Sunday, sell on Monday ( i guess that dates me abit) But I don't see a single "Nascar" style car that is rear drive, so Thank you again Cadillac!!

My interest in NASCAR died when they started racing blobs disguised as lame-ass family sedans and when FOX introduced the cartoon gopher. Sorry, but Camrys, Impalas, and Fusions don't exactly inspire excitement.

Jay, my sentiments exactly (see my post on GM getting back into racing). The CTS-V Coupe is a perfect match for the SCCA World Challenge. It gives them maximum exposure to the right audience. Let's hope that they can beat up on the M3's, Mercedes etc. along the way.

Yes, this series is a great venue for Cadillac. Some posters here don't seem to realize this series runs as a companion to Indycar, ALMS, and at the top USA attendance venues. And it is relatively affordable to be competitive. It is exactly the right audience for Cadillac.
For example, to run a Cadillac prototype in FIA/ALMS under current rules would require a budget that would be REALLY a waste of money.
