And Yes, It's Also A Vauxhall

Opel and Vauxhall are finally done with the GT concept's weird teasers, and the real thing is a svelte, little sports coupe. The concept will show its face at the Geneva Motor Show in March, but the companies claim this minimalist shape could inspire future performance vehicles.

The designers at General Motors' European divisions keep the GT Concept's styling elegant. It has the classic sports coupe proportions of a long, pointed nose and a short rear deck. To keep the profile smooth, there's a seamless transition between the door glass and the metal, and the sides lack exposed handles or mirrors. The vibrant red stripe that runs up the A-pillar and over the roof hides a touchpad to open the doors, and rear-facing cameras show drivers what's happening behind them.

Looks odd, proportionally appealing, funky, and intriguing all at once.

    I think I like it!

However, the GT is fairly light, weighing around 2,205 pounds. Opel and Vauxhall claim the coupe could theoretically accelerate to 62 miles per hour in less than eight seconds and reach a 134-mph top speed.
Honestly, there's nothing wrong with it not being huge on power --- especially if the weight is low, the styling is attractive, the driving dynamics are great, and the packaging works. Other "affordable" sports cars have sold well/been well received over the years without putting out huge numbers (including contemporaries like the Miata/MX-5, the Subie BRZ/Scion FR-S, etc). Even if they produce it with a modest engine, I think it would be a great vehicle to own.

Two things: 1). Let's hope there's a Buick equivalent (just don't call it the Reatta, please); 2). Let's hope a manual transmission (and not just a sequential gearbox) are also available.

It would be easier to visualize if it was one color with regular glass and black tires.

    MonaroSS,

Could you please use your talents to "productionize" this concept? Thank You .

IT's really cool as a concept. Even if they loose some of the gimmick stuff for a production version, it'll look great as long as they keep the shape.Though I think it'll need a little more power.

Looks like Scotty did invent that transparent aluminum after all.

don't understand why they call it "GT"
afaik 'grand touring' is about effortless, comfortable-even-elegant roadtrips

think this is more half canyon-carver, half commuter-TownCar
...prolley not enough cargo capacity to be a "GG" tho

A production version would have to have no roof....
