Before its debut at the 2016 Paris Motor Show this autumn, the second-generation Opel Insignia still has some testing to do. Our spy photographers caught the car again, this time wearing OPC alloy wheels. Beyond them sit Cadillac brake callipers. This is not the first time General Motors has worked in mysterious ways. Because: Looking at the size of the brake discs or soft damper setting, it’s rather clear that this test mule is far from being an OPC-grade machine. But testing how the chassis responds to thumping great wheels is an important part of a new vehicle research and development process. So, let’s call this an early test mule for what’s becoming an Insignia OPC once it gets ready.

I'm hoping it's the camouflagers that did a great job...as I try to mentally strip away the camo, I just get more disappointed in the design.

    interesting, they're using Cadillac's Brembos. Sounds like A TTV6

The article makes the point that it's a chassis-testing mule - with or without the camouflage, you'll get no clues on styling changes.

Brembos are just big brakes - many SUVs have them to cope with their weight, on base models not just the high-performance versions - I've got 4-pot Brembos front & rear on my decidely non-sporty SUV.

Since this will most likely be the next Regal GS, my question is, should there be a Malibu Sport/SS based on this since the SS is eventually going away?

The body looks like the other "spy shots" that have been posted.

Malibu? Wrong sedan. Since the impala and SS are the full size sedans real question should be if impala stays fwd and xts goes away could we see a turbo 6 awd for the impala.

Kind of GS spec, still at mule stage.

The most interesting spotting opportunities are yet to come.

Don't worry, the camouflagers did a fantastic job indeed, the car looks great.

Ooooh, nice video of a day at the track complete with real life sound effects. NICE. I like the car. You've got to use your imagination because of the thickly puffed out padded sides but IMO I think this is going to look alright.

Insignia/Regal and Malibu are on the same platform. Question is still valid. I think it would be good to have a Malibu Sport, like the new Fusion Sport.

Seeing where GMs head is with the new Malibu anything sport related seems off the board. If GM keeps the pricing low with the Buick sedans why have a 35 to 36k Malibu when the Regal GS could be around the same price range.

The main thing for me is I'm hoping the OPC\GS will be AWD. And over 300 horses from something.
