    Banks Power
    Dec. 5, 2019

Gale Banks unboxes his new 2019 Cadillac CT6-V Blackwing V8, one of only 725 made! It's an all-aluminum, double overhead cam, twin-turbo, twin-intercooled, twin-wastegated, 500 hp, all-wheel drive, all wheel steer muscle car.

The engine was branded as the "Blackwing V8" by GM technicians and is the first Cadillac-exclusive dual overhead cam V8 engine since the Northstar V8 was dropped in 2011.

The aluminum cylinder block features pressed-in iron liners, cross-bolted main bearing caps and houses a lightweight rotating assembly composed of a forged steel crankshaft, forged steel connecting rods and high strength hypereutectic aluminum pistons. Its firing order is 1-5-4-3-6-8-7-2.

The aluminum cylinder heads house dual overhead camshafts and four valves per cylinder; exhaust valves are sodium-filled.

The turbochargers are mounted between the cylinder banks in a so-called hot-V configuration and their twin-scroll design broadens their performance capability, offering quicker response and greater efficiency. The turbochargers produce up to 20 psi (1.4 bar) and are matched with electronic wastegate control for more precise boost management and more responsive torque production. 90 percent of the engine's peak torque is available at 2000 rpm and carried through 5200 rpm.

Banks really likes this Cadillac and has some high praise for it. It was great to see him look under the hood and talk about what was going on inside.

I always learn something new watching his videos.

    Cadillac should keep building them.
Pony Car: an affordable, compact, highly styled car with a sporty or performance-oriented image and an available V8.

I had my moments of doubt regarding JdN, but now that he's gone I realize he was the only thing standing between Cadillac and the corporate pressure to be mediocre.

He put up a good fight, and now we can see why he did so much for Cadillac China first, GM doesn't have as much control of things there that they do here.

Cadillac CT6 production ends in January, 2020. I know where there is a brand new, numbered, 2019 CT6 V (White), MSRP-$97,000 for sale as you read this..........

Sad......the beginning of the end of Cadillac.

Did he get some inside information that just slipped out.

We know that there is an electric truck slated for the Hamtramck, but Gale Banks said this at the 2:58 mark.

"They're converting the plant to build an electric version of this platform."

He also mentions that the Corvette will get a version of the Balckwing TT.

It will be interesting to see what becomes truth and what remains fiction in a couple of years.

Not a fan of hypereutectic aluminum pistons but all the other engine parts are top notch. I suppose you can't get away with forged pistons in a Cadillac do to slight clatter on initial startup before the pistons heat up. I'm a little surprised it takes 20lbs of boost to get to 500hp. That doesn't sound right on a 4.2 liter DOHC because 4 valve heads love boost. I think it will either make more power or they have the boost numbers wrong in the article.

The car should be amazing to drive for sure.
