Spending more billions for RWD crossovers doesn't make a lot of sense for Caddy right now. Their crossovers are selling fine. And they have the Escalade for those who want a RWD SUV.
I disagree...but I guess we/GM will find out shortly if the buyers care when we see XT6 vs Aviator sales #s and ATPs.

They don't know and they don't care.

Most are looking for gadgets, infotainment, utility and prestige. Cadillac name is still quite good thanks mostly to the ongoing popularity of Escalade.

It's not research, it is passion for the brand. I do not want a Chevy, I want a Cadillac. I do not want a Camaro (sort of), I want an ATS. Same chassis. 2.0T and 3.6 is the same engine. Many people like the style, they like the brand. Some people like to do the research and say it is the same bones as the Chevy and Chevy is cheaper, therefore it is what I'll buy. Not everyone purchases scientifically. Based on your comments, luxury brands never make sense to purchase.

He said it's the Sport, but it looks like the premium Luxury with Carbon Fiber instead of wood. The interior looks very nice quality. Now add more power and digital gauges and XT6 is good to go!

Its a total lack of passion for the brand if you don't know that you're purchasing a GM car when buying a Chevrolet and a Cadillac. They just took their car purchases as a simple transaction.

Like I said, luxury purchases are illogical at their core, it's a purchase based on desire/passion i.e. not something based on logic. For Example, I bought the Enclave when the logical choice would be to buy the Traverse and save 5 grand. They're both mechanically identical, just one evoked a desire to purchase where the other didn't.

I said that the XT6 lacked, in my opinion, the panache or prestige to warrant the purchase over the Enclave based on solely an emotional desire. Not that all luxury purchases made no sense.

I can grab 8 out of 10 people right now in my office who have absolutely no idea what that their Lexus is a Toyota.. Chevy is related to their co-worker's Buick. I have friends who actually bought (husband and wife) GM vehicles from multiple divisions and didn't know they were from the same company until the finance bill came.
Sound like people ripe to be picked for those "Real people ads".

Reminds me of a story back in 1994 when the Chevy Caprice and Impala SS was being shown together to "real people" and some of them were amazed that to find out they were the same car.

How the XT6 gets so much praise on GMI is beyond me. If Infiniti, Lincoln, Lexus, etc. were making the same vehicle, it would not receive praise, and rightfully so.

Why is not knowing about the chassis a lack of passion for the brand? A lot of people don't care about the underpinnings, the handling, etc.. Some just care about the looks or the fact it's a luxury car; it is their own version of passion. Most women I talk to about cars get "glazed eyes of boredom", but they still get excited about cars that look "cute" to them or meet whatever their criteria they have - different form of passion that does not rely on engines, chassis, lateral g's or 0-60 times.

Are you kidding? We had 100 pages of praise for the Continental which was a turd of a gussied up Fusion. Same with the MKC when it came out. This place is ripe with Ford Fanboys. It's pretty obvious.

I assume that you praised competitor products, such as the Lincoln MKZ, when it was released? Because after all, it's a direct competitor to the CTS because underpinnings don't matter.

Imagine if the Aviator was a Cadillac, and the XT6 was a Lincoln, the threads here and at FIN would 180 degrees opposite of what they are now. There was non-stop complaining about negativity on a Ford fan forum directed at those of us who were less than pleased with Lincoln products. It's actually hilarious to watch how the exact same thing happening here, the same excuses, the same blind loyalty!

    Good times! LOL
