    You forgot the 400 / 450 / 500 / 550 / 600 etc for the NM of torque.

V-Series was/is a fine name for Cadillac's top tier performers.

But then that's kinda fudged as well because the XTSUX only has 361 NMs of torque, so if you're going to the nearest 50 that should put you @ 350 and not 400.

Anyway, back to the Blackwing...will it come with a commemorative black leather Blackwing jacket?

FORD has THUNDERBIRD, (another great name) so for them or Lincoln to come up with BLACKWING wouldn’t have been much of a stretch. Quite a few car companies use winged badges, so to have those badges in black for their ultimate performance vehicles, would totally work.

CADILLAC CT5-V BLACKWING. Yep that looks perfect!
So in that respect the V series is performance Cadillac and then to add Blackwing to it means you got the ultimate in performance Cadillac, something worth striving for or aspiring to if that be your thing.

So to reply to your lame side diss, yes I read the article...and I stand by my previous remarks that blackwing is a stupid name.

Btw My post wasn’t ‘shined up’, I merely added your post #.

Cadillac already said the V’s wouldn’t get the NM torque badge, or did I imagine that? If I didn’t, then the BLACKWING variants likely won’t get the Nm badge either.

Will Cadillac rebrand all of their engines blackwing? like how Ford has done with ecoboost?

I love "Blackwing", it's a sound marketing strategy. I'm certain it will not touch off a zombie apocalypse like some think, if the vehicles are good they will sell, if they aren't good, they will fail - the V Series naming change will have no impact.

Re: Next level V series to be called Blackwing.

The indignation over the name is almost laughable.

It's not like they're renaming Corvette to Chevmobile.

V Series has a certain heritage, but as it applies to multiple vehicles (hence, "series") and it's not going away. There will still be a V Series, but more of them. "Blackwing" may not mean much, but it has kind of a cool sound. If it's a great new engine and the rest of the cars using that moniker are great, it will be embraced.

Maybe it's time to dump most of the engine badging.

For something special like Blackwing, maybe have some sort of badge or logo. For your common everyday engine, why bother? Having "2.0T" on the back of my car adds nothing, and something like Newton Meters or whatever they're coming up with now will mean even less. We don't create badges for oil pressure or cooling system capacity or some other spec from the owner's manual, why do it with engine size or output?

Because it used to be a badge of distinction...S600 V12 Twin Turbo vs S430, BMW 760Li vs 735...its about showing you're better than the guy next to you. But in Cadillac's case, XTSux 400 means absolutely nothing....may as well call it the XTsux eleventybillion.

    V - Sport / or better yet, "other" .

    V Series

    ++++++++++

    Optional :

V Series Blackwing...... the definition of which is somewhat a topic in and of itself.

But nope.....or at least not so far.....

Not a fan of it though so far because it seems to suggest a much more limited use of the Blackwing V8......

Re: Next level V series to be called Blackwing.

I tend to suspect that the CT4/5-V BLACKWING cars are going to stay with the engines from the ATS-V and CTS-V, but with improvements of course. Right now the BLACKWING V8 is probably just for the CT6. I don't see a problem with the CT5-V BLACKWING staying with the Corvette engine. It's probably cheaper to make than the new Cadillac exclusive engine.
