Most Cadillacs will be electric by 2030, says GM

    Promises promises..

If you're waiting for big companies to reduce their carbon emissions, you can forget about 2020. Apparently, 2030 is when we'll start to see changes. That's the year Amazon wants to make half its shipments carbon-neutral and Microsoft promises a 75 percent reduction in carbon emissions. Now, GM has another promise for us: by 2030, the majority (and possibly all) Cadillacs will be electric vehicles.

The head of GM's Cadillac brand made that pledge today, Reuters reports. Though, Cadillac President Steve Carlisle noted that Cadillac could continue of offer internal combustion versions alongside EVs if there's demand. He also said Cadillac will offer a large electric SUV similar to the Escalade.

Cadillac has made a few hybrid attempts, like the CT6 Plug-In, and early this year it released a teaser photo of its first fully-electric vehicle. While Cadillac doesn't have much to show yet, GM has made Cadillac its 'lead' EV brand -- GM is also working on electric trucks.

The only one spewing bull**** is you. I bet you don’t even believe half the **** you post.

In another thread you suggested that Carbon is safe because we are all made of Carbon. You are suggesting CO and CO2 are safe, to which I say please do so. Lock yourself in a room and inhale all the CO and CO2 you can.

Never mind the fact that one molecule can change a compound from safe to unsafe, e.g. H2O is water, H2O2 (one more Oxygen atom) is what you should be drinking.

Ok...2030 fine, now how about they get back to work on their ICE lineup that'll have to carry the water from 2019 - 2029. Which means, bring back Omega for a gen 2 CT6 and a proper XT5/6/7 and not the Acura-lite stuff they've been trying to pass off as luxury.

Is there a market for luxury sedans? It seems luxury or otherwise sedans are on the decline.

GM just need to deliver on crossovers for Cadillac as they are the bread and butter. Bring back proper names too.

Yes Sedans are on the decline everywhere but luxury sedans there still seems to be a market, it's declining too just no where near as fast as the mainstream market.

CT6 was 3rd in large lux sedan sales in the US...there's a market for it, but I'm more concerned about the CUVs and their need to move to a premium platform Omega would've been perfect for the job, don't think it should die after a single generation of a relatively low volume model.

Just don't see how GM doesn't pull the trigger to put the XY6 on the Omega platform. They have to make their money back somehow. And this would have been a real baby Escalade.

Their mindset is why bother when GM fans will claim this as the next greatest thing:

Not to be a d--k but their attitude with everything minus Escalade has been "good enough" as opposed to hands down the best, and actually to be honest...what we've seen from the '21 Escalade's interior...while definitely the nicest interior GM has ever done, isn't a quantum leap over the Navigator...maybe that was a lower trim and not the platinum, but it doesn't really have anything new that we havent seen on the 2 year old Navi.

We need to keep in mind when looking at the '21 Slade that vastly improved over it's predecessor doesn't automatically mean greater than its competitor.

It won’t die off just getting renamed. Seeing how the new truck platform will birth EVs it may not be alone. Outside of the skateboard itself obviously.

We've had a similar exchange before, I don't see it with D'Ham being re purposed for EVs...Hopefully they'll keep the CT6 line moving alongside the EVs but I'm unsure....Just to be clear, I'd love to see Omega or Omega lite continue on as VSS-R, but all the signs are pointing to VSS-R as being stillborn:

CT4/5 still on Alpha for at least the next 6 years, then???
Camaro - on Alpha I, likely dead by 2023
RWD Premium EVs - coming online shortly w/ the transition mostly complete in 10 years

If VSS-R is indeed happening, what car is going to be on top of it and where will it be built?

Perhaps Cadillac and General Motors will get a divorce before 2030?

Can't afford and wouldn't buy a Cadillac weather gas , electric or hamster driven.
Get your head out of your ass GM and build affordable, profitable EVs. Then everybody wins.
