Hooniverse - Cadillac CT6 Platinum: The Blackwing is gone too soon

Always liked Hoonie's reviews; don't know why he doesn't get the views/subscribers, but then someone like DD (who is simply awful/annoying) gets tons.

A 2nd gen CT6 w/ the Blackwing (but this time positioned against the M5) would have been so nice.

Can't argue with a word he said, really honest and spot on. Total agreement with you on the reviewers, seems you need jazz hands and a silly disney shtick to get anywhere, sad.

honest and spot on but there were not enough arguments. If I were him, I would mention lack of power headrests, door panels not sophisticated enough and lack of interior color choices. Other than that I think the interior is still quite handsome. I would still buy it over Germans if I was an American living in U.S.

Agree with everything said but about the sound system. I've heard the Burmeister and Mark Levinson audio systems and it's definately comparable. For 100k the sense of occasion when you get in isn't there and it's missing too many little things to justify the price.

I had one ride in a tt, I loved the seats, interesting what you walk away and remember most two years later - the seats. Very comfortable.

Though I'm sad that they are ending this fantastic vehicle on this incredible chassis, I can't wait to see these new electrics and hoping the new Escalade interior is a hint of what is to come!

Its almost like they think that just because they slap a $100k pricetag on it it somehow becomes more desireable...that's what worries me about the Celerystiq, they're already boasting about a 200k pricetag before the product is even finished. Personally, I like to look at a product with the phrase "sum of its parts" in mind and IMO GM is going to run into a whole bunch of unsold Celestiq's if they think that just because it's 200k it somehow is more desireable. GM tried this same price before product tactic w/ the XLR V and we saw how that all played out.

Cadillacs are a CPO purchase if I've ever seen one. New car prices are just way to high for what you get in my opinion.

Yeah its solid, but its not in the same class as the Revel, Meridian, B&W, etc.... Bose just doesn't make components at that engineering level - its not their market/niche.

How many of us on GMI have been saying the interior isn't good enough for the price point(s) Cadillac has been charging for the CT6? It's decent, but its not all the way there. For $100k it just sort of feels like a letdown, outside of the Blackwing.

Agreed. With the Blackwing, I'd love to pick one up slightly used after the price falls back to reality, but with this short run are you going to be able to get parts for it down the road? Total shame this engine isn't going to be used in other vehicles, would love to see it in an Escalade VSport. (yes I am still going to call it that )

I bought a used non-CPO and added an Ally (the former GMAC) warranty because it's a LOT longer.
You can also tailor the mileage. That saves money.

The wife doesn't drive that much, so I have a 5-year, 40K mile warranty.
It'll be under warranty the full five years.

The car's a winner so far... I have only done maintenance in more than a year, no repairs.
I hope I never use the warranty.

Re: Hooniverse - Cadillac CT6 Platinum: The Blackwing is gone too soon

Cadillac first selects a price point and a profit margin, installs excellent powertrain and chassis engineering, then builds interior with what's left.

What should happen is powertrain and chassis engineering should be top notch, interior should be extremely top notch, price point should be relatively low relative to the market and on the low end of their margin targets. As mojo increases in the market, slightly up the price. Simultaneously, innovate, innovate, and innovate...

That's how everyone else does it--why can't Cadillac???
