If you made the vertical part a door handle then I would go for this but if it has a handle where it currently is then I will go with what is being released.

And as mentioned above, who really needs the rear window to roll down? New cars aren't designed well for all window down cruising, unlike back in the 60's where they had to since most cars didn't have A/C. My 58 Edsel, or early Camaros are nice to cruise with the windows down, anything new just seems to beat you up with the airflow. Who needs the windows all the way down, kids? My truck is primarily just me, I can't think of when I roll those windows in the back down. I rarely roll the front passenger's one down actually.
So every car that has the non functional window has a cheap feel?

I'm just went and refreshed my memory of the Ion and that is an awful comparison. Ion doesn't even have a fake window on the C Pillar.

The thing I noticed; GM designed much different than the current version; current Gen door is more pointy.

I don't think anyone gets hung-up about windows not rolling all the way down as long as it more than 1/2 way.

Anyway, why not make it glass?

That's how I feel, yes, why do you think you can change what I think? Of course there are some Euro cars that have them, but at least they have some sculpting on the sides to add visual interest. This Caddy is just dull in that big area between the headlights and taillights. And I never said the Ion had anything on the C-Pillars. If you' removed the plastic and trim off the Caddillac C-Pillar, the rear window area would definitely look a LOT like the Ion... in my eyes they are the same. Nothing on the C-pillar, or black plastic for a "pretend" window, what's the difference? At least the blank pillar of the Ion won't fade, peel, scratch and look like crap in 5 years like any mass of shiny black exterior plastic does.

Oddly enough, I prefer the looks of some of GM's cheaper cars better than this, at least pertaining to the roof.

I much prefer the styling of this roof...

    Even this one.

At least both of those have real quarter windows.

Do we even know if black triangle is plastic or glass?

And both of those are FWD.

I was merely asking WHY it looked cheap. The non functional window is used on all vehicles up to $200k. I'd venture that 90
% of vehicles have it whether it's car, CUV or SUV. It's just a design limitation.

And yes, I absolutely HATE the black window. Don't fake it.

I wish the 3rd window on the CT6 were painted metal, I think it would make the car look sleeker and sportier, particularly with light exterior colors.

My DTS has a large sail panel, and it's much less of a visibility problem than the fat A pillars, which sometimes hide headlights on cross streets.

heavily tinted glass in my eyes looks worse (not necessarily cheaper though) but it does depend on the quality of the plastic too. Maybe if it looked like carbon fibre people would accept it more readily.

The one with the vertical trim is too Kia-like.

The problem I have with Cadillac’s design is that on a premium vehicle, you should have real glass, not a black plastic filler. If they couldn’t use real glass, they should have revised the d3sign.

I think that little kink is clearly aimed at the China market. Asian aesthetics love a kink where Western aesthetics favor a flowing line. This is a kink for Asian tastes.

I'm disappointed to see on the first page how much more graceful the Honda Accord's treatment of the same idea is.

One bonus, though: I'm betting this long roof line allows them to position the back seat further back than a conventional roof line allows. Maybe this makes for a really spacious back seat compared to the competition. And it's another thing the China market totally demands!

Face it, this is barely an American car.
