Re: Carlisle: Time for Cadillac to just to be Cadillac again

The concept of a modern DTS is fine, but it has to be done right. The Escala is a modern DTS done right - great proportions with amazing interior materials and styling that will appeal to all generations.

The XTS is a modern version of the DTS and what I'm afraid of. Awkward styling that appeals only to older folks.

The CT6 is on the right track, beautiful proportions, can handle but still comfortable. The interior is nice, but not in the same league as the Escala in both materials and styling.

Sounds like everyone (but not me) wants Cadillac of the 1950's - huge cars with convertibles. So how does that translate to the 2019? Big cars barely exist, certainly not convertibles. How is this big car experience translated over to smaller cars and CUV's?

This can actually be driven and no one ask U if U're borrowing your grandparents ride. Cadillac should keep building them (and Buick), if for no other reason than Black Car service

You're right the Catera is 20 years old....I should have said the BLS....Remember that jewel?

    I had a Saab as well... a 2007 9-3 2.0t that I liked it a lot.
Then they went BK and the parts situation got rather interesting.
I might've bought another Saab (a cabrio) instead of my Eclipse Spyder if they hadn't gone away.

I traded it in on a car that reviewers love to bag on... a Jag X-type wagon.
Don't care what the reviewers say. I liked it, too.

I would rather have a DTS Platinum than any XTS if I'm honest. The DTS hid it's FWD proportions very well while the XTS always looked like an over-styled Buick LaCrosse.

    Oh wait...

Just what Cadillac will Cadillac be?

The one from the last 30 miserable years or the world class brand of the 30’s?

The problem is Pricing! When I bought a CTS in 2007 I thought I was getting a 5 series for a 3 series price. Lo and behold, the price on the CTS went up by 10K in two years. Now you can get your 5 series for a 5 series price. No Sale. When I bought my ATS coupe I chose a used one for half of the list price!

    Exactly

For a variety of reasons, most of which are truly beyond Cadillac - and GM's control at this point...... most of Cadillac's good to great periods are somewhat more than removed and or too remote from where they are today.

Which means..... lots of other times that ah, ain't usable in a positive sense although they damn sure are in a negative sense.

Just to be clear, "how not to do it" which at this point, is the larger half of the Cadillac History - and by a sizable amount at that.

You just might be able to squeeze '49 thru eh, '56 ish in for good effect. Ignoring fully the disadvantaged start position of today compared to then..... but I doubt GM Management / the Board have any of that in mind regardless of that.

A solid move up Piece and Brand for Chevrolet / Buick Owners covers much of it; and disenfranchised and or bored Honda/Acura - Nissan/Infiniti - Toyota/Lexus users covers pretty much the rest.

    As the Industry transitions......

Whatever their intentions..... I'd be somewhat 'grateful' about the above as an accomplished result because that's about the best you can expect given the likely funding.

I find it deeply disturbing you don't see the that the real problem is with what you just stated, see below.
