I am on the border of genius and crazy. I keep trying to cross over into genius, but ICE keeps sending me back to the crazy side of the border.

    CT4-V MPG’s —

    C/D FUEL ECONOMY
    Observed: 21 mpg
    75-mph highway driving: 35 mpg
    Highway range: 600 miles

The 21 mpg is not suproising given they took this car to the track to test it, but the 35MPG at 75MPH on the highway is mind blowing for 325hp V-Series car. That beats the EPA estimate of 29 mpg, by 6 MPG and is better than my mother in-law’s Hyundai Accent on the highway where she gets 33 MPG a on a typical road trip, and that has ~130-140 hp.
I am on the border of genius and crazy. I keep trying to cross over into genius, but ICE keeps sending me back to the crazy side of the border.

Damn! Fast!!!!! I need some of that!

And 35 mpg at 75 mph - impressive! Substantially better than I can achieve with my 2.0T ATS AWD w/six speed.

Re: Car and Driver Test Results for CT4-V

Just to compare it’s faster to 60 than the CT5-V tested by Car and Driver, otherwise it tracks very closely to the CT5-V in everything but grip, where the CT5 outshines it quite a bit. The CT5-V does have a higher top speed as well but not by much. If you want the more premium materials in the CT5-V and the privilege to say you have a twin turbo V-6, get the CT5-V, but I am betting the CT4 will be more fun if your back seat passengers are willing to amputate their back legs for the privilege of a ride.

Car and Driver test results for the CT5-V:

    C/D
    TEST RESULTS
    Rollout, 1 ft: 0.3 sec
    60 mph: 4.8 sec
    100 mph: 11.5 sec
    130 mph: 21.5 sec
Rolling start, 5–60 mph: 5.5 sec
Top gear, 30–50 mph: 2.8 sec
Top gear, 50–70 mph: 3.3 sec
    ¼-mile: 13.3 sec @ 107 mph
Top speed (mfr's claim): 168 mph
    Braking, 70–0 mph: 153 ft
    Roadholding, 300-ft-dia skidpad: 0.99 g

I can say the CT4 is a lot faster than I thought it was going to be but the exhaust note, tq management system and interior layout would lean me towards the CT5. That system helps the CT5 out handle the CT4 and would be a deal breaker for me.

I just noticed that the new C&D RWD CT4-V comparo lists slightly better numbers for the CT4-V than are currently online:

    0-60 4.4sec
    0-100 11.4sec
    1/4mi 13.0sec @ 106mph
    rollout 5-60mph 5.2sec
    top gear, 30-50mph 2.8sec
    top gear, 50-70mph 3.6sec
    70-0mph brake 152ft
    100-0mph brake 310ft
    Skidpad: 0.93g

I guess different temperature, driver, etc., makes for slightly better numbers.

And here we thought this gen couldn’t out perform the CTS Vsport.

Also got a better skidpad result. Better braking.

So, those numbers are in the hard copy?

If I remember correctly, when Cadillac rolled out the V-Series for the first time they said that all V-Series would be 4.5 or lower. The acceleration on this car with 325hp is absolutely crazy. Also, how did it do in the comparison?

It certainly would suggest the power ratings are on the low side. I was being lazy about heading to a Cadillac dealership but I just might have to make the effort and go.

Correct. I didn’t notice it at first but I double checked and sure enough they were different...and a bit better. The online version of the comparo article should be online at some point...

The CT4-V (209 points) thrashed the M235i GC (193) and beat the Merc-AMG A35 by a nose (207). Basically it was the best drivers car but they preferred the Merc interior so that made it closer. They conclude: “the CT-V is the best sedan in the segment you can buy right now.” Updated S3 competition coming fairly soon.

Its the torque that scoots the CT4-V out of the hole. Peak torque comes on at 1500rpm if I remember correctly and it stays there all the way through the RPM curve.

That’s astonishing for Car and Driver to give the CT4 the win. I don’t think that’s something they’ve done recently.
