I checked and compared many pictures of XT4 (spyshots and official)and the CT5 spyshots before saying the screen looked like 9.5/10”. Others immediately posted pictures of the XT4 screen that is the same shape and declared that as proof positive that CT5 has the identical screen size. D’oh! Who knows perhaps I’m wrong.

Also, the poster I replied to, was saying that is their preference to have Tach/Speedo mechanical, but didn’t preclude all digital Gauges as an option if you like them. At least that’s how I’m reading it.

You read me correctly, I admit I’m an outlier, I even prefer (gasp!) manual transmissions! 8” infotainment LCD is even fine by me OMG! I don’t expect a manual at all with the CT5. Maybe a teeny tiny hope for the future cheaper CT4.

The spyshot screen definitely looks bigger than XT4 to me. I’m just not sure if the official Caddy video looks bigger that’s all! We’ll know for sure soon...

Looking at the spy pics I believe it will be larger than the current car's 8 inch display.. which is the same size as the XT4's I believe

Speaking of manual in the CT4.. would anyone squawk at the prospect of the DCT from the C8 in the Caddy instead of a traditional manny?

Wouldnt bother me at all but hasn't the market already moved from DCT's? We're at a point where traditional autos shift just as fast without the inherent clunkyness of a DCT.

True.. but most enthusiasts don't want to hear that.. the DCT seems to calm their nerves after a run or two in one. Me.. I love manual tran, but I think my Vette is my last one. If I get a C8 in 3-4 years.. It will be the DCT. Of Course some fear the normal manny is dead after the C7

I’m hoping for “mechanical” speed/tach gauges, as shown in the spy shot, fine all-digital in a package if you like. Too many reports of problems with LCDs in cars.

Who has reported that? I know of a friends 2016 CTS and it's LCD gauges are doing just fine with our frigid Chicago winters and all. They even responded fine in our 40 below wind chill weather this past winter.

LCD gauges should be standard fare in the luxury class these days. Analog doesn't belong in a luxury car in 2019 unless its a performance version of the car and for the tach ONLY.

Google around and you’ll find many people discussing broken screens after warranty. Some are electrical issues some are mechanical. I don’t worry about it for infotainment screen, but I wouldn’t want to have to spend +$1000 just to read the speedo and tach. To my view this is tech for tech’s sake, a step backwards. I’m not against touch-screen infotainment. Here’s a couple to get you started...there are many many more out there on the interwebs:

OK I don’t care what kind of automatic they offer since I’m not buying one! Assuming there’s no manual on the CT4 I’ll look at used manual ATSs again. There are a few around. I’m just hoping Caddy offers a manual on the 2.0TT. Fine if they don’t offer on the 3.0TT since I’ll never be able to afford one anyway!

But to repeat yes I realize I’m in the tiny minority of manual tranny fans...

Sounds like a few...not many. Anyway if you look on the web you can find anything to support an argument and claim "many people". For example, i can say many people report that manual gauges get stuck:

    http://www.fixya.com/cars/t25911534-...uck_below_zero
    http://www.fixya.com/cars/t23192842-...eter_stuck_max

Fact of the matter is...things break, always have...always will. You can't be afraid to move forward because of the possibility of something breaking, if that were the case, we'd still have hand cranking windows. Like I said, at the pricepoint and segment, it's almost mandatory to have a full LCD cluster.

    Re: Cadillac Reveals 2020 CT5

It’s hard to say for sure, but it looks like Cadillac’s designers rendered the C pillar faux window in glass rather than gloss black paint. Anyhow that’s my hope, as doing it that way will look pretty nice short of an actual window.

Pity the car they captured is white, as it serves to hide or mask a lot of the surfacing that a darker color would probably reveal. Overall, it has a pretty athletic, dramatic look and gives off a coupe vibe to my eyes.

It’s a shame the Volvo S60 behind the CT5 didn’t get alongside it to give us a better idea of CT5’s size.
