And how has that been selling lately? Not saying CT5 is the answer but current CTS styling is not setting the world on fire.

I found some versions of the press photos that are more brightly lit, showing some of the surfacing details around the rear quarter:

    Re: Cadillac Reveals 2020 CT5

This thing is no where near the disappointment the XT6 is. In fact, it TOO has had its new Honda Accord C Pillar grow on me. The XT6 is basically first GEN Denali converted to Escalade (in my opinion) from GMC Acadia all over again. Just in 2020 style instead of old terms of badge engineering vs new badge engineering. "Platform sharing" XT6 is NOT. Sorry. This isn't even an XT6 thread but I had to speak my piece since the Caddy fan club is shooting shots at CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM and calling it hate for the brand. We just want them to be THE STANDARD OF THE WORLD we know they can be. My favorite brand could out-handle a Bimmer, Bugatti, Lambo or any car in the world but the substance of the brand: advertisement and confusing styling that doesn't do concepts like they do (or meat of the meal as we chefs call it in culinary world) isn't there.

Sorry. Gay dude rambling. I probably didn't make any sense just now but I would like you to see that most here don't hate Caddy. At all. I find it hard to believe one has that much adult time in the day to post here just to "hate" GM. Maybe I have too much time spent traveling with my boyfriend and his friends and working three jobs but I don't get why you all ride down hard on someone that thinks so much hate is toward Caddy and intentional at that. Let me go now. Bye. I have parent/teacher conferences to attend for the much needed North Chicago school district... Some of you are ridiculous.

If they can just do the faux window in black glass it'll look great. Likely it'll be gloss black paint, but on the new Enclave the rear of the rear door has a one piece gloss black plastic molding that butts up to the window behind it and it is pretty nice. Black glass is the way to go on CT5 though, as it's reflective qualities would match the fixed window in the rear door, and the rest of the windows.

I think by now, nobody cares of what Cadillac can present.

It is as rare as Maserati on a street.

    PS
From it's looks it could be a liftback(fastback) but it is sedan.
    Pity.

It's a handsome vehicle but , yeah, that Pillar does cheapen the look. It's like they felt they needed to make it look different and that's what they came up with. Just not needed, IMO. Chevy pills that crap with the front fender flares that always look out of place (see Cruze and Silverado and Impala).
Someone should photoshop it without it and see what it looks like.

Well this is interesting, isn't it?

Looks like the Germans haven't been slacking after all. I agree the F30 3-series was an all-time low. However the G-chassis vehicles (current X3, 5-series, new 3-series, X7, X5, 8-series) have all received universally positive reviews on interior and ride/handling. Well, the 5-series is still criticized as being soft/bland except in excellent M5 form.

At the end of the day, it's not that Cadillac isn't doing better. They have to do better than the best in all areas if they're going to give a consumer a reason to pick them over the established brands though.
You post the 2019 JD Power list, now I could be wrong but didn't the Germans fall down that list in years past 2012-2017. Now the main reason why the new gen models you listed is receiving positive reviews on interior and ride/handling. Is because the completion was catching up to them, you have Jaguar, Infiniti, Alfa Romero, Cadillac, Lexus all gaining ground on BMW and beating them in some areas. They had to step up, because they was starting to fall behind Mercedes at the same time. The C class started to become a better handler then the 3 series. Mercedes interiors made another leap in style and quality, mean while BMW kept evolving pretty much the same dash design for 3 generations. I don't think Cadillac have to beat the so call best in all areas, just important ones, style, price, quality/reliability, ride/handling and if the quality still fall a little short. Cadillac should have features the others don't have in that price range. Shoot Cadillac had automatic climate control before the Germans in cars that cost way less. The only reason why Germans got a foot hold in America is because one Cadillac rush out technology that was not ready for prime time the V864 and HT4100 engines come to mind. If those two engines was hits and not miss, then Cadillac fortunes would not been so bad. That they would had bounce back a lot sooner then the 1990s after the downsize front wheel drive full size Cadillacs fail to repeat the 1977-1985 full size models high sale numbers. On top of those missteps Bad management and poor treatments of customers, open the doors wideopen for Germans to come in and setup shop. Mercedes and BMW learn from Cadillac mistakes, even though they did still release some cars that had quality issues with there engines and transmissions in the 1980s and 1990s. They just was not as bad as the V864 and HT4100 Cadillacs engines that tarnish Cadillac reputation for decades. Oh damn I forgot to mention this, it interesting that Chevrolet, Buick is above the so call best on this 2019 JD List. The socall best luxury cars should be at the top of the list, despite how many cars sold. Porsche is at the top. Me personally out all of the Germans car companies, believe that Porsche is the best European car company and deserve it praises more then any other German brand.
