Front and back are good. C pillar is not great. Don't love it but I don't hate it.

GM needed to make people love it. Not sure they did.

The profile is fugly as *uck. Look at the rear window, omg its nasty. Cadillac never changes. They do A, but forget about the B.

Interior looks simple. Too many cheap plastic buttons for the D segment car. This is just another ok'ish Cadillac, but nothing more. Germans are still better....

    Re: Cadillac Reveals 2020 CT5

This was an unexpected surprise - I had no idea we'd be seeing pictures of the CT5 today. I like the new GM in this regard, the old GM would've leaked so many pictures that by the time the official reveal took place it was old news.

I like what I'm seeing! It successfully translates the broad shouldered CT6 styling to a smaller car (at least in CGI). A lot of detail in the design, which I am a fan of. Clearly this is a higher trim level, I hope the lower ones still look good.

Yes, that kink in the C pillar looks odd, but mine will be a black sport model, so that kink wont stand out. And 3.0TT! Awesome addition! I wonder if that is V Sport engine or V Series? As an ATS owner, I am happy with the next gen.

I like this overall. It's a much more conservative design. Very glad the 3.6L is dead. I do wonder about a hybrid.

It's massively better with the chrome accents vs the black ones

    Re: Cadillac Reveals 2020 CT5

This looks like a goo update, for a car 6 years ago. I'm a Cadillac fanboy, but the latest designs are too generic and look dated already. Imagine this in 6 years, in 2026, when Cadillac finally updates this thing after using $15k in incentives to move them.

Nothing too wrong with it (there are always details some people will/won't like), just don't think it is enough to sway people from cars that have a better reputation and more attractive designs (Audi, Mercedes, BMW).

The photos of the gray one are lifeless, as usual for GM.
Didn't expect no lower body chrome.

What is it with these fake rear windows? It's not limited to Cadillac. There's a Lexus CUV in my neighborhood with the fake window in the back and it makes it look very cheap. Hate to say it, but I also see Saturn ION in that C-pillar, like someone else mentioned early in this thread.

I really like the new taillights and the front end.

The Faux "Black Plastic" window in front of the C pillar does look a little economy car like in design. Couldn't Cadillac have been original in solving the design issue here? The rest of the CT5 design looks good enough. It won't offend anyone but hardly rises to remarkable. This would make a great Impala but falls woefully short of being a Cadillac (standard of the world)

    Re: Cadillac Reveals 2020 CT5

I loved the Escala and I love this. Coupla observations.. I see exactly what they did.. but because of size, the design exercise of the longer Escala (2010.5 inch vs this being probably 193-195 inch) could not be completely translated over to a smaller car particularly in profile. I still doubt that the CT5 will be much smaller than the current car with the CT4 still yet to debut. I am betting a longer wheelbase for both, even if the actual length drops a bit.

Anyway,.. The black "faux window in the rear doesn't even bother me because tinting the car as I always do will make it a moot point. Only real disappointment is the door handles aren't the hideaway like the Escla.

So cool that they are done with the 3.6L NA in this car and have gone onto feature forced induction as a sole means of propulsion. I am expecting changes in current HP rating from those as well. If the SPORT is available with the 3.0L... outside of an actual V, I see very little reason to break from the "Y" philosophy and offer a V-Sport. What I have noticed Cadillac has done of late with the VSeries program is put them on their website as separate models. Thus allowing them to stick tothe Y with Lux, Prem Lux, Platinum cars even in the V

As a current CTS owner I love it.. and look forward to the VSeries debut in a year or so. I'll be sitting that one out as I want to go into the CT6-V, but curious and excited nonetheless

You can see the picture of the dark gray model that the C-pillar is less obvious so ya - black would be the best color for this car for sure.

    3.0TT is awesome for sure.

I can only assume the driving dynamics from the ATS/CTS will be even better here also.

Overall a nice design. But to move the needle in sedan sales these days, if that's even possible, you really need to do something special. Cars often look better in person than pics (although sometimes it's the opposite). But based on these pics, this isn't going to be the Cadillac savior sedan.

It has been a very long time since I have said I liked a new GM car....but this one I do like.

I'm not in the market for a Cadillac, or any type of luxury car, but to me this is their best effort in years. I like especially that the windows aren't tiny 'slits', they appear to be pretty large and offer decent-to-good visibility.

If this is the culmination of what Johan did while in control, I can understand why Mary fired him. It's not bad, but not bad is not what Cadillac needs right now. The interior looks like it's going be another snoozefest ala the XT4/6. What a waste of 4 years.
