    Cadillac Reveals 2020 CT5

Cadillac CT5 Revealed via ‘Sensory Symphony’ Social Media Videos
Spine-tingling ASMR-style videos showcase the first-ever CT5 from its reveal to its public debut in New York
    General Motors

    March 18, 2019

DETROIT — Cadillac today revealed its first-ever CT5 sedan with a social media campaign designed to stimulate the senses using autonomous sensory meridian response, also known as ASMR.

The videos focus on distinct sounds designed to trigger a physical response,** often experienced as a spine-tingling sensation, such as the rev of the CT5’s available 3.0L Twin Turbo engine, audio from its Bose®️ Performance Series speakers and the whisper of its custom black-and-white camouflage wrap slowly being peeled away to reveal the new sedan’s exterior.

The CT5 “Sensory Symphony” series can be found on Cadillac’s YouTube page and social media channels.

“The Cadillac CT5 is meant to overwhelm all of the senses, and that’s why we’re using ASMR-style videos to showcase its features,” said Deborah Wahl, Cadillac chief marketing officer. “The ‘Sensory Symphony’ videos are designed to convey for viewers the same satisfying feeling that arises from driving this car.”

Cadillac collaborated with artist Darel Carey to create a one-of-a-kind camouflage wrap for the CT5. The black and white tape patterns reflect forms found in nature and distort the viewer’s perception of space, and the videos will leverage this effect to disguise the shape of the vehicle. In the videos the camouflage is slowly peeled back to trigger the ASMR sensation while revealing the first-ever CT5.

The brand will feature a new video each week leading up to the New York Auto Show, where the CT5 will make its public debut, culminating in a “Sensory Symphony” video of vehicle sounds on April 16.

“Sound leaves a lasting impression, and that’s why it is such a focus for this vehicle,” said Brandon Vivian, Cadillac executive chief engineer. “With standard sound optimization and active noise cancellation, our goal is to deliver a world-class cabin experience with a Cadillac-exclusive curated sound library.”

CT5 showcases Cadillac’s unique expertise in crafting American performance sedans, with details designed to elevate every drive. Built on an evolution of Cadillac’s award-wining RWD/AWD Alpha architecture, the CT5 features a standard 2.0L Turbo and available 3.0L Twin-Turbo engine with unique sound calibrations, each paired to a standard 10-speed automatic transmission offering nearly imperceptible shifts.

The driver-centric cockpit inside the CT5 blends high tech and high touch for an exceptional blend of control tactility. The new sedan will be offered in Luxury and Sport models, giving customers more choices in appearance and ride character.

The CT5 will be built at GM’s Lansing Grand River facility, which received an investment of $211 million to build the next-generation Cadillac sedan, and will make its public debut in April at the New York International Auto Show.

Sooooo... It's Cadillac's version of a modern Saturn ION?

Nothing wrong with the face of the car. It's the rear 3/4 and sides, which have always been problematic for Cadillac. At least it looks like they've solved the issue with their taillights.

I think it's attractive from what I can see, looks like it will have good side visibility ala BMW.
Still hate the huge logo but I like the grill.
Overall a huge improvement over current designs. Need to see more of the interior

That rear quarter is................ ummm................ odd. It makes for a strange profile................ kind of like 2 different vehicles grafted together. Cool at the front, frumpy at the rear. The front looks good, and I like the taillights.

I love this. The C Pillar is Unique. The Rear finally isnt bland. THe Front could use more Detail though.

That is beautiful. Great front profile. I see some BMW and some Audi in the lines. Hopefully the interior is up to the exterior. Damn I like that look.

    Re: Cadillac Reveals 2020 CT5

This is not good. That C pillar is ugly, the rear trunk and tail lights don't flow together very well and remind me of Chris Bangle's first BMW 7 series for some reason. The front end looks okay, but it would look a lot better if they reduced the amount of black plastic fake grill work around the lower LED lights. That much fake grill work reminds me of the current Civic Type R, and that's not a car you want your Cadillac to look like.

This is going to take some time to digest, looking forward to more pictures and videos for sure.

    Open pore wood is gorgeous.

Really like that they ditched the 3.6L for the 3.0TT!

This scares me. As a Cadillac enthusiast and knowing the trouble they’ve been in throughout the years, I must say this design comes off as generic. There’s nothing passionate about it and it it’s just a failed design that’s trying to look trendy. At this point it’s actually.......desperate. It doesnt even look like a luxury car anymore.

The Escala concept came out and I was skeptical. Not that it was bad design, because it was gorgeous, I was always concerned with how well those design elements will translate on production vehicles. The CT6 is cool. The XT6 is rather boring and the CTS replacement looks like a step backwards.

Looks like we have probably seen the last of great Cadillac design. If you take the crest off the front and the back and this can easily be a Accord/Charger/insert any name here____________.

.......what the f*@! is up with that C-Pillar? Nobody asked for a bad remix of the Hofmeister kink! Cadillacs signature knife point could have probably saved the side profile. Wait, is that just a black piece of plastic for the 3rd window on the C-Pillar? Come on, CADILLAC!! Who green lighted this? Bring back Ed Welborn or something!Looking at the details, the front lamps look hella cheap also. I trying to like it, but the more I study the design the more I notice a lackluster design.

Very amateur design, not a fan. It screams Q50, especially that hideous, hideous C-pillar. Did the designer sneeze when they were drawing it? It looks terrible.

Somebody on here said that someone who works at the Tech Center said this car wasn’t going to blow anyone away and that it was “ok”. They were right. This doesn’t look to be anything special.

    Re: Cadillac Reveals 2020 CT5

generic design suits audi (and other EU manufacturers) well, not Cadillac.
I don't like it, looks worse than 2nd and 3rd gen. CTS.
Nevertheless GMi German-car-supremacy professors would love this design if it came from MB.

So is the CT5 the replacement for the ATS or CTS or both?

They used the "First Ever" tagline again?

    Re: Cadillac Reveals 2020 CT5

Straight on Front & Rear shots...nice. Side profile, MEH! Jeez, who approved that C pillar with its economy car black faux window?

It looks like the DLO is different but using the CTS's would've saved this design.

Edit: After looking at it for a few hours...I actually like it...like alot. Sure the first pic doesn't do it any favors but the side profile and front and rear shots are excellent.

    Re: Cadillac Reveals 2020 CT5

I think it's important to never judge a GM CGI picture, but I'm having a hard time not to. I'm really confused about some of this design. I assume they didn't change any of the physical dimensions of the car, (wheelbase, length, width, height) yet all the changes have made it look stubbier than the CTS. The CTS really had a long, low, wide appeal, this doesn't. And those headlights....what's up with them? XT6 clearly went with the Escala headlights, these swoop back into the fender in a different, but still blend of old and new design, WHY??! Hoping for an LED option that we haven't been shown/told about yet, that will help, but not much.

Lastly, I reiterate my demand for a Battle of the Alphas, but add that I want to also see CTS-Vsport vs CT5 3.0TT. I'm curious to see if any changes can make up for the minor power differences.
