Not a shred of passion for the brand. She talks like a dead-weight politician who's in too deep. Her empty responses were nothing more than platitude-laced talking points. I don't think the panel was buying her act but the saddest part is that she appears to believe her performance is convincing.

That just about sums it up perfectly. She exhibited more pride in Cadillac's tribute to Aretha Franklin than the cars she is paid to market. Priorities, priorities.

I can't imagine how many other figureheads like this are hobbling Cadillac.

And if you ever want a small taste of what's wrong with Cadillac,
just try listening to Deborah Whal for more than two minutes
without your head pulsing, I dare you.......

Everything out of her mouth was cliched marketing phrases.
Cadillac has spent billions over and over on massive new
product and tech onslaughts that have been ineffective
in terms of increased sales and presence in the market.

For the past decade or more, Cadillac has been a constantly
trying to remake itself and slake off buyers and vehicles that
didn't meet its new identity, that search for a new buyer base
has chased away almost everyone else...so now to turn around
and say, "Let Cadillac be Cadillac" sounds just so fake and plastic
    to the point of insulting...

Buyers don't "get" the products because Cadillac doesn't understand buyers, who they are and what they want / expect. So pricing for high end exclusivity only works if enough buyers want your products in the first place.

In the past, Cadillac was mostly an aspirational brand for other GM brand buyers, "I'm gonna own one before I retire" but now it's become a conquest brand, "I'm trading my BMW/MB on a Cadillac.".....(friends laugh at him/her)

Maybe it's time to work both sides of the street again.....'just sayin'

Wall cut her executive leadership teeth as CMO of McDonald’s. Mc-friggin-Donald’s. There is nothing wrong with that outside of the fact that absolutely nothing from that experience is going to translate well into a company that once bragged it was ‘the standard of the world’ and which supposedly wants to return to the same.

Divorcing Cadillac and GM is the best course of action for both.

No, that would be a disaster for Cadillac, who has the money to keep Cadillac going?

Make sure the non V Series Cadillac that are focusing on the Luxury side of the equation, have dollar for dollar the most opulent high quality and luxurious interiors in the industry. Itís not that difficult. The Escala, Ciel, Elmiraj interiors would be a good place to draw some inspiration.

Hopefully the New Escalade will be the start of this transformation, at least where the interior is concerned. Iíve seen it in pictures, and it looked classy understated, but with a gorgeous Dash and console. They need to show it ( or leak it) soon, before the competition comes out with something similar and steals Cadillacís thunder.

Btw Iím guessing weíll see the usual Cadillac ĎStaged spy shotsí of Escaladeís interior within a week or two. They were discussing the Escaladeís large screen/displayís over at that other site and whether it would get a giant screen. They mentioned the Tesla Model S, but it is nothing like that. Escalade has Way better presentation and integration into the overall design and while big it is very elegant and is not at all clunky looking like the Tesla.

The Escalade has flair and Panache in the dash console design.
Hey i like Vogue Tires on All Cadillacs.

It was sets them apart from the Germans.

An artisan quarter pounder with mushrooms is called a Mushroom and Swiss burger deluxe. A Tahoe with some extra gingerbread on the outside and inside is called an Escalade.....She fits in pretty well.

Don't get me wrong as I'm not hating on the Escalade. I love a Tahoe with mushrooms and Swiss Cheese on it,just in ESV form.

Oh Please. Some of U are so dramatic it hurts to read. GM has maintained Cadillac as a premier luxury brand since 1909. That's 110 years longer as a luxury car company than any other luxury car maker on the planet. No other luxury car maker has had to be luxury that long. The rest of the brands are baby brands. Even BMW ... It was not always considered luxury. Cadillac has been nothing but.. and it had to reinvent itself mid-drift with one portion of the population wanting it to be one thing, while the other wanted it to be a hybrid of two. Sport luxury like the Europeans...

This interview was marketing 101. It was to kill and banish the whole talk of Cadillac trying to be European.. Trying to be BMW. Cadillac being Cadillac means Cadillac going its own route and doing what it does best. Forgoing the rules and creating their own. The tweener strategy is an example. Someone in another thread said:

Its as if.. The problem is that people who were not apart of the time of the legend.. didn't experience the legend first hand. I liken Cadillac to Prince thru out his career. Most people know his legend because of Purple Rain, but he was so much more.. before Purple Rain there was the genius of Dirty Mind... after Purple Rain there was the supper brilliance of Sign o The Times and Musicology.. But in between them there were a few weak albums. But overall the legend remains... the legend was real.. and deserved. Cadillac doesn't need to reinvent itself. It just needs to be Cadillac.. which is simply not like the cookie cutter European luxury brands some hold in such high regard, for no other reason than they are European.
