Hate to say it.. but the way the Chinese buyers are buying Cadillacs, supporting them and praising them.. while Americans constantly put them down.. I see why they are so focused on catering to them. Either way.. Visit the one in NY. Nice

This is what the NY location should have been. Beautiful showroom.

Damn, sounds like Melody really ****ed up the SoHo gig....damn shame, could've been something special. Interestingly, if I remember correctly, it's like what GMI'ers said the SoHo project should've done.

The first floor of Cadillac House features Cadillac Arena, a multimedia display tracing the history and heritage of the brand, along with a Cadillac Life area highlighting partnerships with other designers and brands. The second floor showcases Cadillac technology and innovation with virtual reality areas and interactive exhibits like the Cadillac Soundscape, which features dozens of songs mentioning the brand. The third floor is home to an auditorium and a VIP lounge.
“Cadillac House provides customers an unmatched opportunity to learn about the technology, craftsmanship, cultural influence, manufacturing capability, and quality of the brand,” said Andreas Schaaf, Cadillac China’s vice president.

Cadillac House’s location across the street from the SAIC-GM Cadillac plant offers another unique opportunity. Customers are invited to watch their vehicle being assembled, then have it delivered in a special ceremony that takes place outside Cadillac House on a turntable at the center of a fountain.

That is a fantastic 10/10 showroom. Wow.

Put one in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, London, Paris, Hong Kong, and of course, their hometown of Detroit. The brand needs it.

They already have a world-class showroom nearby for both Cadillac & Corvette. Who cares the cars have steering wheels not on the right side. It makes a big PR statement for Cadillac.

Americans put them down. Europeans put them down. There is no real market anywhere else. Maybe GM is holding to this lifeline since nobody else wants to buy them? If China stops buying them, is Cadillac a write off ? And GM never learns from its own mistakes, the 40 years here proved that over and over.

For those that haven't, better make the trip to New York City this weekend. Cadillac House in that city closes permanently on Monday, April 1.

Otherwise, if Cadillac House is on your bucket list of places to visit, start saving up for that flight to Shanghai Pudong!

    Let's just have some fun.....

    shanghai

To shanghai someone is to kidnap or trick them into working for you. The traditional way to shanghai someone is to drug him and put him on a ship. When the person wakes up, he better get to work.

This term popped up in the 19th century. The captain of a boat would shanghai people when his ship was short on < intellectual property rights > labor. The shanghaied person would wake up and find himself at sea, often on a long trip like to Shanghai, China. The term is also used for similar, non-naval abductions. If you trick your best friend into coming home with you so she can do your chores, you shanghai her.

    ---

For a symbiotic organism, one way to quickly acquire a new habitat without the bother of slowly adapting to it may be to simply shanghai a new symbiont.

I echo the sentiments of many posters about the disrespect many Americans and Europeans have for Cadillac. I think Cadillac House in Shanghai is spectacular. With the sales potential GM should focus on cultivating its image and gaining luxury sales in China. Who knows, maybe at some point in the future Americans and Europeans will be trying to import grey market Cadillac cars because they are so cool. Poetic justice.

Melody Lee was retarded, but there were obvious limitations to the SoHo spot and she's not why it's gone. The reason it's gone is because GM briefly admitted it had absolutely no idea what they were doing, and in doing so, decided that a limited avenue of being completely hands-off was the best move—so in their ignorance, they let somebody run wild.

GM deciding they knew better means... Mark Reuss and Steve Carlisle are now in control of the brand, and it's back in Detroit.

Americans and Europeans put them down because Cadillac has been turned into a rinky-dink brand for dopes by the rinky-dink dopes at GM.
