LOL.. once the Accord took the styling.. the Audi's styling ceased to matter. Besides.. I thought they both debuted the design for the 2018 model year

No, but it does require an extra 30k coming out of your pocket!

$30K more to be riding in an A4 Loaner vehicle, as per my personal experience and many a friend, while waiting for it to get back from a 2 day electrical issue service

Yes. He did not say it was not possible to put an actual window, just that their decision was more "efficient."

The A7 is not in the same segment as the CT5.

Audi didn't need it's execs explaining the design elements of the A5 Sportback, either.

Fin camera. The CT5 augments its conventional license-plate-located rearview camera with one in the shark fin on the roof. “It’s a more natural position, with an enhanced 120-degree angle digital image, and improved night vision,” Vivian said.

Really want to see how this pans out. Also wonder if the REAR VIEW CAM is integrated with this?

Long winded? Do you not like reading? I counted 3 sentences on the subject.

Why is it "lazier/cheaper"? It's different, yes. But a window in that space would have been tiny. Putting in a window would have been the EXPECTED thing, certainly.

"Require" ? Mr. Smith was simply answering a question put to him by a Journalist in the course of an interview.

Exactly. Why would a journalist ask a question like that in an interview, unless it required explanation?

To me, the A7 has some odd angles that I'd like explained, especially in such an expensive vehicle. Either way, we've seen many times before where the car companies discuss design elements of their vehicles. I don't see it as unusual that GM is discussing this trim piece.

Why do I feel like the world has moved past this trim piece, but GMI hasn't.

In the case of the CT5, it would be an 8th window, counting the quarter window in the rear door.

Because the A7 came first. The Escala is obviously inspired by the A7 and the CT5 is inspired by the Escala.
