Cadillac to ditch alphanumerics in EV transition

AutoNews reports Cadillac to ditch alphanumerics in EV transition

    Full article: https://www.autonews.com/marketing/c...=hero-headline

DETROIT — Cadillac's alphabet soup will end with EV.

The General Motors luxury brand on Thursday said it will drop its alphanumeric nameplates and transition back to actual words as it electrifies its lineup over the next decade.

"The rollout of the electric vehicles is the time we'll start to move back toward naming," Cadillac President Steve Carlisle said.

GM is using Cadillac to lead its electrification efforts, which include 20 new all-electric vehicles globally by 2023. By 2030, Carlisle said, the majority — if not all — Cadillacs sold will be battery-electric.

"We're entering the decade as an internal-combustion-engine brand," he said. "We'll exit the decade as a battery-electric brand. It's the end of the ICE age for Cadillac."

    Make it stop.....

I was fine with changing to alphanumerics, but this is endemic of GM's problems, to many cooks in the kitchen constantly changing everything. Pick one approach and stick with it for a decade or two. SRX to XT5 to Seville CUV (or whatever) in a space of 15 years. Not good.

Cadillac is ditching alphanumerics like CT4 and CT5 and committing to real model names like Eldorado and Escalade.
Huge news! So glad that GM marketing survey is now finished after 12 years.

Seriously, how was this allowed to continue for so many years?

Can't wait to see Cadillac's new electric vehicle, no doubt named EL-dorado.

This is why Cadillac is a dead brand walking—no consistency.

Question—when did Cadillac hire Mr. Freeze to lead the brand?

Cadillac FL-EV-TWOOD. As Jimmy said, the boomers finally get their wish in the form of bad puns by post-ironic zoomers.
