Re: Cadillac CT6 Drops Another Engine, Only Two Left

Its a CADILLAC.. now that the V8 is available.. why buy anything else? The CT6 now has a choice of two.. I have no real issue with the 4.2L being the main engine.. kill the 3.6L as well. Start pricing at $75,300 in the 500/574 4.2LTTurbo and go after the TTV6 Lexus LS sales with 84 More HP and 132 more lb-ft of torque wrapped in a car that looks like a bigger, more elegant CTS versus one that looks like a last generation Camry with a Predator face. Offer as many options though.. and we would have a perfect recipe

That's right I said the Lexus LS500.. Lexus' flagship sedan has a V6 as its sole motivation barring the hybrid.. and Cadillac, the other non-German is still touting 3 engines.. two of which are V8s

Do people really worry about gas money for a $>60k car?

I'm still waiting for a naturally aspired 4.2 V8 to replace the 3.6, so the CT6 can be a V8-only car.

Then again the Germans make up for that with producing waaaay more power than is listed on paper. https://www.caranddriver.com/feature...no-horsepower/
They still use paper? Cadillac is digital now.

Lexus LS is dead in the market.
    Not even worth talking about.

    ??

LS sells about 200 units less than CT6 a month, despite costing $25,000 more than it (i.e. 1 LS will buy you ~1.47 CT6).

NG CT6 needs to take a long, hard look at the new LS. It's a damn fine car, and quite frankly should be talked about more than cars like XJ.

It pains me to say so, but Lexus for the most part is doing a good job. I'm kind of anti-Toyota/Lexus, but must say, their RC and LC coupes stop me dead in my tracks... they are a sexy car despite the front ends not being 100%. I'd love to own either though. Wish GM had something that made me do that outside of the Corvette.

Agreed. I love the RC, and it's high on the list as a replacement for my CTS in a few months. Really nice coupe.

The LS is beautiful, inside and out. Truly an A+ effort by Lexus. Shame we don't have a proper full-size Cadillac competitor for it.

I absolute LOVE the interior. Edgy, but at the same time tasteful. Bravo.

The level of quality and attention to detail in a car costing what this car costs is nearly unheard of. Lexus truly hit a home run with it. Just look at the back seat!

The day Cadillac comes out with a true competitor that surpasses the S/7/A8/LS/XJ/G90 is the day I'll become a diehard Cadillac fan again.

The bar has been set, now it's time for Cadillac to reset it.

I suspect this is what will happen by 2021 model year. The car is an engineering marvel and it’s chassis is flagship worthy. Now with the V8, if it is properly refined (and I suspect it will be), the last puzzle piece will be redesigning the interior to give it the appropriate drama and posh feel of a flagship, and maybe it’s wheelbase needs to be extended to give the rearseat another 3 inches or so of legroom.

Supercruise has proven to be the game changer Cadillac hoped it would be. That means Cadillac can go all in on the CT6 to be a proper flagship.

After years of the auto press telling Cadillac to tone down its interiors because Cadillac interiors were too flamboyant and flashy, and “less is more” everybody else are now making interiors appropriate for Cadillac’s from 1960s to 1970s. This Lexus has a very old-fashioned Cadillac vibe to it.

Oh man.............. those pictures remind me of my Prom. LOL

I think the 3.6 CT6 is the volume seller because it is the "inexpensive" option.

I had velour on my 84 Monte Carlo, agreed, so soft. Static jolts on dry days though. My friends called it "the couch". I also wonder what happened to carpet on the bottom part of doors. I think nicer than plastic, shows no scuffing some soundproofing too.

Same, I'm tired of all plastic door panels. Give me some thick carpeting.

Me too! I especially liked the velour lined interior of a '74 Cadillac Fleetwood Talisman I saw at a Cadillac & LaSalle Club car show, which included an actual pillow. The owner was kind enough to let me sit inside.

Different strokes for different folks. The XJ is nine years old and counting, and IMO the latest top spec 2019 XJ looks better in every conceivable way versus the Lexus LS. The LS exterior is wonky AF, and the interior might have beautiful materials, but it’s basically wretched stylistic excess once you get beyond one or two interesting details.
