Terribly dumb. When I first began reading, I thought, "OK", let's go with total net torque rating, why not, considering the merger of different powertrain technologies.

I was expecting lb-ft. Car guys know "torques".

What are Newtons? And meters.... well, meters are slightly longer than yards, I think those are used in the Canadian football league. So if the force is distributed over a larger area, does that mean in Newton Yards it would be less??? Are Newton Yards related to Camden Yards?

    Ugggh.

The Series Cadillac Cars were Model Names before they were Actual Names. Cars were giving "Names" After 65. The Cars were Marketed for example "Cadillac Sixty-Two". It would be Great if they Renamed all Cadillac's "Sixty-?" nameing Scheme, atleast its still historical names, without using what some folks here say "Old man" names like Deville.

The CT6 V would make a Good Cadillac "Sixty-Seven Fleetwood"...

Of all the possible things that Cadillac could spend time and resources on it, this is what makes it to the top? The use of an obscure metric torque rating to name cars? It is ridiculous, it would still be ridiculous if they used the Imperial torque rating. It is not a language that many people speak, especially the market that buys Cadillacs and especially in metric speak. I hope someone over at Caddy comes up for O2 soon.

Reminds me of seeing Cadillac back in the 70's even and their Fleetwood 60 Special and even in 1993. Reference this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cadillac_Sixty_Special

Might as well slap a 6 or 7 (denoting passengers) on the fender of the XT6 to show whether or not you have the captains chairs or a bench in the middle.
    Pointless?

Cadillac has already stated a transition to an EV future. How would they "badge" an electric drivetrain? (this discussion has nothing to do with model names) The engine displacement generally used now is meaningless for an EV. And referring to some 18th century "horsepower" number would certainly not help with the high tech image they would like. In addition, an electric motor's torque is a constant (unlike for an ICE) so torque is a better choice than power. And again, using the old fashioned Imperial measurement (ft/lbs) is hardly a way to say "high tech". And torque is also a valid expression usable on EVs and ICE cars, unlike the current displacement numbers used. Good for a transition period.

And as for "understanding" Newton meters? There's no need. We were all able to figure out what a 6.6 liter, or a 2.0 liter engine represents. Nobody had to learn (and almost nobody DID learn) how to calculate the swept volume of the piston's movements. All you need to remember is that a bigger number is better. 412 Nm beats 323 Nm. Given that choice, I would opt for the "412" motor. How many Newts (or Figs if you prefer) do YOU need (want)?

Obscure? N⋅m is the standard unit for torque used by every automaker around the globe.
