I don't see myself ever using these features, but they seem pretty cool. The delivery thing seems useful, especially around Christmas when I don't want my packages delivered home where my wife will get them first. I wonder if this will work for me though as I park my car in a parking garage where there is no cell phone reception.

I still haven't seen the actual point of Alexa in general, she only seems to do things that are already easily done, meaning it's little more than a gimmick to me. If I want to start my car I'll just get out my phone and use OnStar, or I don't need Alexa to change my radio station.

My son has one of those stupid "assistants" in his room. Yes, it is just a gimmick. Last Thanksgiving I went to his friends house, and they had one of these. 15 minutes of arguing with it to turn on the right lights................ and I am sitting there thinking "just walk over the switch and turn them on. It will take 15 seconds." There will never be one in my home (I don't count my sons room................ he is 17, so his room is an island unto itself).

A friend's son gave them Alexa for Christmas. I told him to take it to the river and drown it, it is nothing but a spy or worse.

Last I heard he was having trouble with it. Imagine that.

I think Alexa would be pretty cool if you wired your whole house up - electronic shades, link in the alarm system, etc. - but that all costs a fortune; a fortune I'm not willing to spend on something "cool". I'll stick to opening and closing my own blinds.

I think it's a bit of a gimmick. Some things I'd just as soon take care of myself.

Homegrown. The enemy within. Ask her, she may slip up and tell the truth.
