Uuuuugh!!! That Forester! I will never understand the appeal nowadays. It used to make since, because of the AWD.. but at this point what is really unique about them except how plainly ugly they are? As I said in another thread.. There is nothing great about Subaru... EXCEPT their commercials... and the run them constantly.

    They found a niche.

    Soft types I think.

The types that loved those Mastercard "Priceless" Commercials back in the 90s..

Subaru knows how to PLAY Americans right into their showroom floors.

Seriously.. GM could add about 100K in sales per division if they just hooked up with the guy/girl who came up with this bulls#!+

Why does the XT4 have a hump I've always wondered. In the old days it was because of the drive-shaft

The Cadillac ownership experience alone is worth the price difference

Right now the 2019 Cadillac XT4 starts at $34,795 and with rebates and incentives in a couple of years I'm really going to consider this one . Always wants a Caddy!

What a comparison. I think these so called journalists are trying to blur the line and feed us full of BS. Try the likes of Acura or other quasi-luxury brands to comparison test maybe. Let's comparison test horses to cows and see how that works out.

Exactly, there is no vanpool at a Cadillac dealership.

Probably the biggest proof that this comparison is BS, is the fact that either through ignorance or mendacity is that he alludes to the notion that the XT4 is related to the Equinox. In other words he tries to pull a Cimarron on the XT4 by suggesting this is a leather slathered Equinox, and perhaps, that it’s a badge engineered Equinox.

Anyone who has been paying attention knows that it is more closely related to the Buick Regal or Lacrosse or Chevy Malibu as it sits on a variation of the Epsilon platform. And that platform is widely acclaimed for its premium feel. Contrastingly, the Equinox is on the Delta platform which it shares with the Chevy Cruze.

In fact, when introduced both GM and Cadillac said that it is on its own unnamed platform. The idea that this is related to the Equinox is an anti-Cadillac disinformation campaign. It’s origins are not a state secret for crying out loud.

The XT4 has pulled off something I was not sure possible: it’s an attractive compact SUV. And you don’t have to take my word for it. Car and Driver the veritable nerve center of the anti-Cadillac dogma said that the XT4 has a concept car air about it, saying it was more attractive than an SUV had a right to be.

I am on the border of genius and crazy. I keep trying to cross over into genius, but ICE keeps sending me back to the crazy side of the border.

My 2019 Equinox has the D2XX Platform shared with Buick as well. It has excellent driving dynamics and has that premium feel to it now. I should know I own one.

"interesting" review from someone who is NOT a "luxury buyer"

the 3 cars "play up" the stereotypical views of each brand with the subby being the no nonsense practical car and the Mazda being the "zoom-zoomiest" but NOT a GREAT day to day choice
reviewers LOVE these "LUX are they worth the cash" pieces and IMHO as soon as you ask that you KNOW the answer AND are NOT the customer of the "finer things" as LUX is NEVER a VALUE proposition

Subaru also KNOWS how to "stay on brand" and KNOW there REASON

if you want the safest most practical car that sacrifices LOOKS and driving dynamics to achieve the practicality BUY a Subaru

IMHO this is the BIGGEST "failure" of GM and FORD is the BRANDS do NOT cosevely represent something and STICK with it
also Toyota and FCA "mopar" brands are good at staying "on point"

Having owned a Subaru, and driven considerable distances on a GM Epsilon vehicle (Vauxhall Vectra-C) - the platforms aren't in the same class for comfort, handling or road-holding - the Subaru is a class ahead.
