Auto Trader Canada: Cadillac XT6 is a Vacation on Wheels

This guy really loves the XT6

I am on the border of genius and crazy. I keep trying to cross over into genius, but ICE keeps sending me back to the crazy side of the border.

What I love about this approach to car reviews is that it really gets into the reasons most people buy cars (particularly SUVs) rather than the mainstream auto press’ habit of reviewing everything from the driving enthusiast perspective:

    Motormouth Canada

A few complaints but overall they love the XT6

They note here that the suspension is so good that they couldn’t even notice when they went over speed bumps! They really appreciate the ride/handling balance.

I saw the XT6 coming almost directly at me in a gas station parking lot the other day — the first time I have gotten that view in the wild — and seriously? This front end is second to absolutely NOTHING. Just looks fantastic.

In their defense the only people who're going to pay for an automotive magazine are generally enthusiasts.

It's still not the vehicle it should be. It would make a great Buick. A Cadillac? Not so much.

Makes a great Buick...because it is larger, more useful and cheaper. Should've been an Omega.

I don't see the hype over the XT-6..It's rather homely (thanks Escala),the proportions are wonky and it looks too big for its wheel base.

But what do I know,I'm usually in the minority about these things.

If I had the choice between this and the previous gen Buick Enclave I'd go with the Enclave.

Should have but I still think it's ok. There is one parked at my office everyday and it's really grown on me.

Isn't the Enclave about the same size? The XT6 is just the large C1 platform for cadillac. I have to say, GM is certainly getting great returns on the C1 investment. If I were in the market for a people mover, I'd wait for the new slade I think. I keep saying, I want that slade interior on a sedan.

If by same size you mean 8" longer wheelbase and 6" longer overall...then yeah they're roughly the same size.

I see one every day and it's REALLY good looking.
With the front ends on an ever increasing number of vehicles getting beat with a giant ugly stick, the timing of the XT6 was superb.

Agreed, I think it's a good looking ride for its segment. Could it have been more, sure - new Escalade interior, more powerful engine, etc.. However, in my opinion it hit the bullseye with its intended segment, GMI and automags are not its intended segment.

Edit: also, in hindsight, I think it's appropriate that GM launched the new interior in the Escalade and not the XT6.

Don't be sad Little Jimmy, compromise is a beautiful thing! The XT-6 Has all of the Omega's looks and the organs of the XT-5 which save those interested in buying one loads of cash at the dealer!. While of course, looking like a million bucks!.
