    Re: Article About Cadillac's Future . . .

I guess it's somewhat amazing that a cloistered, cliquish closed society like GM ever brought that foreign devil, JdN, aboard in the first place. Then when he tried to do the MISSION ACCOMPLISHED moves he was shown the door by the inbreeds. I haven't seen any interviews with him about his GM experience, perhaps he signed a non-disclosure agreement.

How Caddy missed the UTE wave is hard to fathom. Hell even the poor schlubs at KIA had three Utes in 2008: Rondo, Sportage, and a BOF 4WD Sorento.

Sixteen mil in development costs plus four grand per copy (the way I read the piece) for the Blackwing (hint: call it Blackhawk, that name has more kick, get permission from Sikorsky if you have to) and nowhere to go? Tell me again why it can't go in the 'bourbon and 'sclade? Corvette? Camaro? Sonic drag car?

If they haven't after this umpteenth time, I feel they never will and will eventually join that automotive graveyard in the sky.

    Re: Article About Cadillac's Future . . .

The constant mishandling of GM's remaining has got to stop at some point. Cadillac is a mess, Buick is on life support,GMC looks to have a bit of direction (a very small bit) and Chevrolet is pulling a Ford (for now) and going all CUV,SUV and PUT with the Corvette as that brands only car (the Camaro is a zombie).

I hope things get better in GM's 000 future as I am not interested in owing a PUT,SUV or CUV and a car or two will be offered. I would love to own another brand new GM,but right now things are looking pretty bleak for me to do so.

    Re: Article About Cadillac's Future . . .

If I think back to 5-8 years ago I was doing some consulting at GM Powertrain. I began seeing programs canceled and engineers let go. Much existing work was being outsourced because it had no long term future inside. This was the shift to EVs. The internal decisions were made much earlier than the public announcements. GM was under considerable pressure from the Chinese to make Buick and other Chinese made Vehicles EVs. The writing was on the wall. At that time GM signed onto the Obama Era CAFE standards as did other auto manufacturers. The future of the V8 dimmed for other than SUVs and Trucks because they were profitable.
The upshot is that Cadillac's future is as an EV or not at all. I'm hanging on to my CTS-V.

"The XT4, XT5 and XT6 have all garnered lukewarm and disappointing reviews".

Are Lexus RX, Acura MDX and BMW 3/5 series reviews more exciting or glowing? I dunno.

SUV's are are from exciting or compelling unless they are made by Porsche or Lamborghini.

No but they're already percieved to be better than the Cadillacs. It's up to GM to make a markedly better car to switch the perspective and they're just settling for "meh...good enough"

Re exciting SUVs...I guess you forgot about the MB 500s, ttv8 bmws, and the AMG/M models. GM cant even put anything larger than its corporate V6 in their Caddy CUVs because its paper thin 9 speed can't handle anything more.

Avista is sooo 2016 or 2017 and GM has made sure that it will never ever see production....Lets talk about that "Orange Car" (not the President) that Buick is supposedly getting its inspiration from.

    I'd own a RX,MDX or 3/5 series before I'd own a XT-4/5 or 6.

However, I'd own a XT-4/5 or 6 before I'd own a Infiniti CUV and I'd own an Infiniti CUV before I'd own a BMW X1 or trashy X2.

Sums up how I feel about Cadillac CUVs perfectly, ever since Infiniti killed off the FX, all of their CUVs have been meh. I've said it before...Cadillac is the American Infiniti with fresher product.

Ever since the 3.0 TT V6 was withdrawn from SRX, GM seems ideologically opposed to any form of HP utility,
is that because people like Reuse had a preference for cars and refused to even consider alternatives?
Remembering that the utilities we see today were based on 2013-2015 or earlier view of the future.

Reference to Avista was more "in the spirit of"...

I need a coupe! Not sure what "Orange Car" you are referring to.

Unfortunately, when there's change at GM, it's usually massive and brutal
