    2020 XT6 adds new base trim/powertrain

    https://www.autoblog.com/2020/06/29/...c-xt6-updates/

The 2021 Cadillac XT6 has been announced, and the three-row crossover is going through a few notable changes in its second model year. There’s a new base trim and base engine, and Cadillac has added tech features to improve the experience.

Starting with the new engine: It’s the 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that was initially introduced in the XT4 as the base motor. Power output is the same as the compact crossover at 237 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. It’s paired with the nine-speed automatic transmission and comes with front-wheel drive as standard — all-wheel drive is optional.

In addition to the new standard engine, Cadillac is adding a Luxury trim (pictured above) to the lineup as a base model to compliment the Sport and Premium Luxury trims. This will be the cheapest and most basic of the XT6s, but you can still option all-wheel drive. Features include 18-inch wheels, the eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system, black leatherette seats (heated and powered in front), brushed aluminum trim, tri-zone climate control and a number of other smaller extras along with a suite of driver assistance technologies.

Cadillac is also adding wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto to the lineup as standard equipment — they were standard previously but required the traditional wired connection. There’s also a new 20-inch wheel for the Sport model, and three new color options: Dark Moon Blue Metallic, Wilder and Infrared Tintcoat.

The XT6 Luxury’s base price is $48,990. That’s a fair cut below the 2020 Premium Luxury ($53,690) and the Sport ($58,090) trims, but you are losing out on the additional equipment and luxury those trims offer. Cadillac says the updated 2021 XT6 will land in dealerships this fall.

(Small correction, the title of this thread should say 2021 not 2020.)

    Details at the fleet site:

    https://www.gmfleetorderguide.com/NA...D=21959&type=0

In fact it looks like there's info on all the 2021 Caddies, so I can tell you that the power liftgate will now be standard on all XT4s, for example. With thanks to gkr778 that new info was at the site.
Current ride: 2015 Chevy Sonic 1.8L 5sp manual sedan
Previous ride: 1998 Subaru Legacy Wagon AWD 2.2L 5sp manual
Next ride, pre-pandemic: Maybe a 2021 2.0T CT4, weekend car, keep the Sonic as DD
Next ride, post-pandemic: Keep driving the Sonic!

So true. The underwhelming LSY 2.0L engine is standard on all China domestic market XT6. Perhaps Cadillac marketing dweebs figured it would be perfectly fine for U.S. XT6 customers too.

CT5 gets an available 12 reconfigurable gauge cluster. Also, looks like you can now get a V performance package which includes magnetic ride control on the Sport trim.

There is also a diamond sky package that sounds nice that is available on Premium Luxury. There is also a new 20” set of wheels available if you get the diamond sky package. Also, front brakes upgraded on premium luxury to Brembo V-series brakes.

Super Cruise is available but only with the V-6 on the premium luxury trim, and on the V-Series.

Didnt GM get rid of the more powerful 2.0T from the Traverse because it didnt get the job done...now they're going with an even less powerful 2.0T in a more expensive car. Oh well anything to say they sold more units than X.
one other thing, can we finally put that excuse to bed that the # of sales means that X is better than Y becase this is is a prime example of why it doesnt.

Also, CT4 has similar new features as well. CT4 will also get surround vision.

Damn GM going in the opposite direction for optional engines. The optional engine is supposed to have more power, not less

Kidding aside (or half kidding), my guess is most of the people buying the XT6 won't notice the difference between the 6 and the 2.0T.

Going back to 2019, Cadillac unceremoniously dropped the 2.0T LSY engine from the U.S. market CT6 after less than a year in production:

    Cadillac CT6 loses the entry-level 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder

That 2.0 had substantially more power. I think 270hp/295torque. This new one is gutless at 237/258. Crazy thing is the $26,000 base camaro has the 2.0 with 275/295, but the $50,000 Caddy's come with the downgraded version.
