So they've baked in about $5k-$6k in rebates right off the bat which puts it under $70k. To be completely honest you could do a lot worse though I still think it's a complete bore and doesn't move the needle whatsoever in the hottest segment in the world.

I wish the article had just given base prices instead of their own selection of various options...but maybe Cadillac didn’t want that info out yet? Not sure.

I feel that way about all CUVs to be honest,.. and I wouldn't pay $60-75K for a luxury CUV from any maker selling luxury CUVs.. not as long as the Escalade or Yukon Denali are available. But then again.. its obvious that we may just not be the target market...

If it had been done properly, it wouldn't have been an issue at $75,000+, despite it being a FWD CUV.

Issue is, when the actual car is what the XT6 is, it's asking too much for what it is. There are a LOT of options for $75,000, and there are also options that undercut it that are, quite frankly, from inferior, equal, or superior brands, and they all offer an equal, possibly superior car, for less or even money. You can get a pretty darn nice X5, GLE, Q7, or Aviator for $75,000. And as the article mentions, a fully loaded QX60 or MDX for a lot less. Who is this car going after? I totally understand straddling/bracketing the two types of competition, but the problem is, XT6 falls woefully short in terms of what it is as a vehicle.

XT6 shares the same interior as XT5, offers only the 3.6L, and doesn't bring anything game changing to the table outside of Super Cruise, and that won't even be debuting with the car initially. Hell, Super Cruise was a wishy-washy topic regarding XT6 until a few weeks ago after the car was unveiled, when it was reported that XT6 would not offer it, until a Cadillac rep came out and said it will.

To summarize: Cadillac got caught with their pants down on XT6. In my view, it's an underwhelming design with an old interior that just doesn't do enough to move the bar for the money they will be asking for it.

Odd that IntelliBeam is on all versions EXCEPT the Platinum.

If they all have sunroofs standard, does that mean there won't be a delete option? No everyone wants a glass ceiling.

What happened to all the JdN love that used to be here?

They still sell plenty of $100,000 Escalades. I think it should do pretty well. And who gives a crap about Acura? GM is not going to conquest that little mindset anyway.

What we have here basically is yet another Car and Driver GM hit piece.

GM isn't planning on significant conquest sales for XT6 from any non-GM brand. Or for that matter increasing Cadillac's market share in the U.S. The XT6 would never be able to pull off those things.

The main thing is that GM was able to develop XT6 on the cheap, and should be satisfactory enough for at least some of the GM faithful. There should be enough of those folks who end up purchasing or leasing an XT6. That bodes well for GM's earnings in the next couple years.

I'm going to wait and see once the CUV comes out to make judgement if it is inferior....

all 3 CUVTs are too expensive The Xt4 Should be 30K (Encore starts at 23k) , XT5 should start at 35K (Evision Starts at 31k) , XT6 at 45K (Enclave Starts at 40K)

As someone who bought a new 2018 Acadia Denali, I'm going to strongly disagree. If I had to spend my $53,xxx MSRP once again, I'd take the base XT6 over the Denali, even if there's a few missing features. Superior exterior styling, superior interior, modern dash cluster, better comfort in 3rd row based on reviews. The problem is that the design of the Acadia has to be profitable at $30,000, and the Denali package doesn't push it far enough upstream, especially inside.

That's simply the going rate for those types of cars nowadays. I think they're competitively priced and in XT4 and XT5's case, are very solid cars that are towards the top of the class for what they are. XT4 in specific is a very strong offering for the price.

At the prices you suggested, they would not only be undercutting the established leaders in their respective segments (like Lexus with the RX), but you would also be severely undercutting Lincoln, who traditionally has had the most aggressive base price due to the poor brand image it is trying to shed. But past that you'd run into the issue of the Cadillac CUVs cannibalizing each other. A $5,000 spread between XT4 and XT5 is not nearly enough IMO.

At that price, I'd rather save some money and go for a Buick Enclave Avenir.

I'm not sure how any manufacturers get away with such wide price ranges for the same model (in this case with the same engine), but in olden times, with less competition, there was a yuge discount for paying cash, >15%, so MSRP is always just a suggestion.

At that price, I'd rather save some money and go for a Buick Enclave Avenir.
There's a significant difference in length, width, and turning circle. Doesn't bother me, my first car was a 233" Fleetwood, but the ladies?

A $75K Acadia. Hmmm. I guess it's not unlike the Caprice-Ninety Eight-Brougham step up of the same vehicle back in the 80s. But still, a $75K Acadia?
