ZRX: A Silverado version of Colorado ZR2

Chevy Silverado ZRX Will Be Like Colorado ZR2, But Bigger
A better suspension and locking differentials would make off-roading easier.
    SEP 13, 2019
    Chris Bruce
    motor1.com

A Chevrolet Silverado ZRX off-road-oriented pickup will allegedly arrive for the 2022 model year, according to Muscle Cars & Trucks citing "sources familiar with General Motors truck plans." The model would act as a step above the Colorado ZR2 in the Bowtie's lineup of rugged pickups.

To lend more credence to the claim that Chevy is building a Silverado ZRX, General Motors has an application for the ZRX moniker pending as of August 15. In a confusing twist, Fox Racing Inc, the supplier of off-road suspension components, filed a trademark for ZRX on August 22 specifically for "custom pick up trucks." GM's registration covered "motor land vehicles, namely, automobiles, sport utility vehicles, trucks, vans, engines therefor and structural parts thereof."

Two companies filing for the ZRX trademark for such similar purposes makes us wonder whether Fox is working with GM in some way on this project. Fox already supplies suspension components for vehicles like the Ford F-150 Raptor and Toyota TRD Pro models. Adding another automaker to its client list, therefore, doesn't seem too outrageous.

I tend to think it's a good idea, besides they probably need it to entice people into these homely full size trucks.

truth be told...I'd rather see some sort of "Street Truck" than another "me-too" product. Give me a lowered crew cab Silvy w/ massive wheels and brakes w/ a blown 6.2 putting out somewhere near 700 horses anyday over an offroad posermobile that'll wont ever see a grassed parking lot at the county fair.

I think the Silverado looks better than the F150 and many like myself think the same.

The Silverado would've been fine if they would've put some work into the interior...the Exterior is just fine. RST & Custom trims are bad-assed.

I agree, I think the F150 is the weakest looking truck of GM, FCA and Ford, I think the GM trucks look the best, followed by the Ram and then Ford. Not that Ford looks bad, but it doesn't look all that great to me either.

The F-150 has a more purposeful angular straight sided industrial design. The 2021 F-150 sticks with that Ford formula for sure. It's not flashy, but it's not obnoxious and trendy either.

My favorite designs are the GMC Sierra and 2021 F-150. I'm not that hot on the curvy molten sheetmetal of the other full-sizers...and I think the RAM's fascia looks like it's puckered, as if the fascia was a size too small for the truck. But the smoother and conservatively styled sheetmetal is a nice balance. The Chevy is wacky, it's hard to escape the nonsense of the design and you know it's not here to stay.

I'm surprised you like both GM's the best; especially since they look nothing alike, wait a minute, no I'm not, nevermind.................

I hear the take rate on the Trail Boss is way higher, than projected - amazing what happens when, after 30 years of building 4WD trucks that look like 2WD's...............

The Silverado sure, one-upped the swoopy fender/door thing we all hated when it first appeared on Nissan's, huh?

This model along with an all new interiors, better looks, better transmissions, and better mid-range motors is all GM needs to get on par with the competition. Go GM!
