It had me at the lack of mail slot on its nose.

It would be perfect without the hash marks and the portivents.

I knew something was missing from the nose...I don't like it without it's "mail slot". But I do agree about the vents and hash marks.

If it's anything like their Challenger, the butterfly valves are FUNCTIONAL.

"The bespoke interior includes high performance gauges and all-new Alcantara and leather"

"Steve Saleen's company is scheduled for a market launch in the second quarter of 2010."

"These vehicles' power, performance and engineering befit their design. The SMS 620 Camaro will utilize a 6.2 liter V8 engine featuring 575 hp and 600 ft-lb of torque, while the even more powerful 6.2 liter V8 of the SMS 620X Camaro, with all new internals and CNC headwork, delivers a stunning 715 hp and 700 ft-lb. Both use the (patent pending) SMS 296™ Supercharger for their incredible horsepower and torque gains. Transmission options include a 6-speed automatic or 6-speed manual on both models."

"The SMS 620 Camaro accelerates from 0 to 60 in under 4.3 seconds, while the SMS 620X Camaro manages the same in closer to 4.0. In addition to engine output, handling, road holding and braking improvements, the 620X will feature options such as Magneto-
    Rheological Semi-Active Dampers
and Torvec Isotorque Differential and 21" rear wheels.
Both will offer new SMS 16" 8-piston front and 14" 6-piston rear brakes deliver impressive
stopping power to match rail like cornering and jaw-dropping acceleration."

Those "portivents" are eerily similar to the IROC Daytona aftermarket hood commonly put on thirdgen Camaros. As the owner IROC-Z.org, I detest this hood. Meh..

BTW: That hood design isn't new, either. It looks like a rip of he Joenblood thirdgen Camaro hood. Here's Andy89RS' car:

The Jalopnik site quotes Saleen as saying the butterfly valves in the hood are functional. Function still equals ugly, here.

I'm sorry, but this is why i was kinda iffy about Saleen messing with the new Camaro. both of these cars make in EXCESS OF 6OO HP AND THE SAME AMOUNT IN TORQUE AND NEITHER CAN BREAK THE 4 SEC BARRIER IN 0-60!

sounds like the same old Saleen when he was doing only mustangs! lots of pwr NO PERFORMANCE! don't get me wrong, i'm sure these cars are quick. but a STOCK SS accelerates in the 4 sec range with just 425 hp and in reality it's more like a paltry 360-380 at the wheels at best. but i pay 10 grand or more for a "Tuner" to do major engine and drive train work so my car is essentially just as quick as it was before! i think not!

I wish a lot of these so called "tuners" would just sell body kits and leave the "performance" alone! by now EVERYONE knows a 11 sec 2010 Camaro is just $5000 doallars away! headers, pedders, and a nice cam or nitrous and you'll reliably blow these "tuner" cars into the weeds on the street or track EVERYDAY ALL DAY! lol don't do a $1200 head swap with a mean cam too! oops now it's a 10 sec 2010 Cmarao and you saved THOUSANDS!!

I like it, but with 715hp it can't pull off a 0-60 in under 4 secs?

It's cool but it looks naked without the Bowtie. They do need to work on the suspension tuning and/or traction issues. Those 0-60 times aren't all that for so much power.

It looks too busy in some respects...

In the sea of new automotive faces,
there's nothing like the appreciation and beauty of an older model. Let's represent!

Are these going to be sold at dealers with warranties having passed emission regulations like the Mustangs?
