Sounds like a temp job, we need you to fill in at any time. Phone rings at 2 pm “can you come in to work a 5hr shift”. Sure I’ll be right over, just been waiting here all day for the phone to ring. NOT..

Sounds like you are going to get 40 hours, but when they need you, not when you want.

Welcome to the real world fella's.

This is what it means to be non-union. Everything is a temporary job, the only thing that is permanent is making sure your career doesn't go down the tank and feed your family... That's up to you--not some Corvette factory...

Looking for stable work as a factory employee, the big 3(well 2) is the last place I'd be looking these days.

Sounds like fun and if I were single without a handicapped 24 year old Id go for a 4 month stint for a few laughs and an interesting life experience.

Not sure Id want the 16.67 dollars an hour pay though. Not sure I could afford to live on 16.67 an hour even in KY...

Would be cool if I could get employee pricing on the c8 pricing though..thats got to be worth 8 grand?

Supposedly my c8 should be delivered in spring or summer of 2018....

If i saved 8 grand off on msrp plus 16 dollars an hour for 4 months of work? That might also be a fun life experience..

Im too responsible to do any of this...but for a single guy or girl...could be fun.

Isnt mcdomalds paying $15 an hour for flipping burgers?

Not sire $16.67 is too enticing without employee pricing...

Maybe if GM set up company housing in a local hotel or motel...maube more corvette buyers would join in the fun...

Work for a month or two or three or four to get employee procing and a cool life experience might be a better deal.

Ive heard rentals in BG KY might be relatively inexpensive...

It would be fun to work on the prodiction line for a few months to see how the BG plant works...

We dont even need healthcare , dental or vision...just offer us a fun experience for 3 or 4 months...

    It would be a hoot..

    Just joking around....

So they'll run 3 shifts for the first year while demand is up. Then what? Back to a single shift. You're out a work. Not much other auto work in Kentucky. I'd rather work at Jim Been.

Re: Need A Job? GM Needs New Corvette Production Workers

If this article is accurate they'll want to sell as few as possible!

...the source said GM is losing around $20,000 on every low-trim 2020 Corvette model. That’s because the original budget for the C8 project envisioned a starting price of $79,995.

    https://www.carscoops.com/2019/11/20...k-on-each-car/
I have a hard time believing they signed off on losing $20k per car sold, yet I don't think there was a single person on the planet that wasn't shocked by the sub-$60k price.

I make about twice that wage, and I'm non-union.

But aren't the unions supposed to be all about a better life? Don't forget, you have to pay your union dues out of that too.

Or just wait for one of the many "employee pricing for everyone" sales.
Granted it might not apply to the C8 but there are many times in stock sale prices are better than employee pricing anymore. It's not like the late 90s/early 2000s. Back then there was GMS and GMO. Knew several people that ordered a new truck every 6 months to take advantage of the GMO pricing. My FIL could get employee pricing when he bought his Equinox but buying a in stock unit on sale was cheaper than just employee pricing.

Also with this hot new model employee pricing might only be an additional $500 off.
Wouldn't be the first time new models get little employee pricing break.
