GM has unveiled the first official images of the Chevrolet Menlo EV, an electric car that is expected to become the utility version of the Bolt EV.

In October 2017, GM outlined its “All-Electric Path to Zero Emissions” and announced a new electric offensive with 20 new all-electric vehicles to launch by 2023.

The images were released as part of a presentation in China by the SAIC-GM joint venture, which is going to produce the vehicle.

It is reportedly going to have an electric motor with a 174 hp output, a 150 km/h top speed, and the range is not known yet.

Surely they could of come up with better photos for official photography.

Should do very well, just what the market is screaming for yet no one is providing.

Has a bit of character, could be quite good looking.

According to the article it looks like this one by this name at least is the one for China and ours is to be the new Bolt EUV that has been talked about.
However, we know that GM has been working on a utility version of the Bolt EV, which is likely what GM really had in mind in its 2017 announcement.

They filed for a ‘Bolt EUV’ trademark earlier this year.

Now the company has unveiled images of the Chevrolet Menlo EV, which is expected to be the Chinese version of the Bolt EUV (via CarNewsChina):

Interesting, Ford's BEV program is called "Project Menlo". Bolt EUV is a pretty terrible name if that's what they go with in the US, there is no reason to link this to the Bolt just because it shares the architecture. I can't think of a quicker turnoff than to call it a Bolt.

Otherwise, it looks promising and affordable. Ford's BEV (Mach E) is certainly MUCH more advanced than the Bolt architecture, but I doubt it's as affordable.

Probably one of the most important debuts for GM this year. It looks good, hopefully they've upped the range as they're behind with the current Bolt.

There’s been conflicting info on whether this is the utility Bolt. I’m leaning towards the other article I read that this isn’t based on the Bolt at all.

How is it "much more" advanced?

Is it just a reflection, or is something odd going on around the area where the front fender and A pillar meet? It appears there is a character line that begins in the fender, runs under the A pillar, and into the door, ala some Mazda models.

Why do you get a quick turnoff if this new GM car is associated with the Bolt? The Bolt is a hell of a good car although GM did not promote it and therefore did not sell well.

Why are we not just calling this Volt? Volt and Bolt are two electrified names that make sense. Why throw the other one away with the discontinued model? If they can destroy the Blazer name without having a conscience then might as well rehash the Volt name that's no longer being used.

Apparently GM really loves their Blazer design...

    1999 Camaro Z28 - bolt-on weekend vehicle

Looks good to me, I'd be happy if they kept the Menlo name because then that would set up a theme of name related to electricity other than variations of Bolt.

I'm liking the Blazer look on this. I'd certainly be interested in it as a daily driver depending on how it's equipped and price.
