Same here. I felt some other restructuring would happen, where the shares would still have some value.

Take a look at the Hyundai Santa Fe 2.0 AWD (2 Row Seating). Wanted a blazer, saw the price & went with Hyundai. Minimum $10k cheaper, leather interior, what's optional on blazer was standard on the Santa Fe. Also the warranty is longer & better. Check it out, compare & see what you think. Great family car & I still have my 2015 SS/1LE for fun....

The Blazer is falling victim to a weird phenomenon in the automotive press, the mob mentality. It seems to feed sympathetic viewers who desire bias confirmation. People hate Chevy, so lets give them what they want and they'll click. And more specifically, they hate that this is called Blazer...and oh yeah their Truck sucks too so lets make it a theme.

Personally I don't like the interior design of the Blazer, I think it's a tacky cartoon like most Chevy interiors, but the material quality is not out of step with the competition.

FWIW, the Edge gets the same abuse, yet the Honda gets praise for...reasons. I think this is a segment journalists don't understand...especially since they don't buy them.

They may have made some miscalculations with this vehicle that have tainted attitudes, specifically the Blazer branding at the same time Bronco and Wrangler are the talk of the town. It's a Mexican built product launching while they are shuttering other plants. And it's awkwardly designed like a Camaro utility with no real performance to back it up. And then there is the pricing at the high end of the segment. I think it will do very well regardless.

I'd love to hear your take on the Equinox - Blazer name strategy versus Captiva - Equinox, the Captiva was of course a fleet vehicle and pretty much out of sight of most retail buyers...

OK GM got what it wanted using The equinox name on a compact Utility, it's selling it tail off around 30K in April and 119K year to date..but what has GM given up in mid sized Utility sales by doing that...Blazer is like 1,000 sales a month, not good and surely a sign that this was a bad idea.

Hypothetically, what if Chevrolet kept the equinox name on the now Blazer and just used another name on the compact ute, be that Captiva or or some more appropriate name, would combined sales be much better than 31 K and if not, would a better sales mix of larger vehicles made for a much better result?

Not long after Bronco hits, I think GM will regret wasting the Blazer name this way instead of using Blazer and Trailblazer names more wisely to grow sales in the rugged truckster area. More than anything, it's a wasted opportunity now and and blocks opportunity in the future

Your last paragraph put it perfectly. The Blazer is the only one that has hit the grand slam. Wacky pricing, crazy option packages, Mexico built and pretend sport.

That's the best you can do? I think the few positive reviews have garnered praise as well.

    https://www.gminsidenews.com/forums/...review-292275/

Some good stuff in this one too. The bad part is there really hasn't been that many reviews and the ones that have been done have all made the exact same points. Whine all you want but there are some very valid points happening.

If the people who dislike the Blazer are the peanut gallery then what do you want to call the GM homers? Ball slobberers? Nut eaters? Nut suckers??

LOL.. I coined that phrase back in the day to describe an old nemesis of mine named WingNut when he blatantly said that he was literally in love with Alan Mullaly. Then Alan Mullaly failed.

Either way.. the point is that the Blazer is a very competitive vehicle.. and I've heard the cries for it being cheaper.. and so has Chevy.. they even lowered the price continuously for better part of the last 3 months.. THIS REVIEW is almost worst than the C&D one about the Camaro V6 vs the TTV6 Supra. Its a Anti-GM piece plain and simple.. and the main issue is proven to be BS.. concerning the interior.. The interior is not only a very nice interior.. but it is nicer than the mainstream Japanese competitors Neil loves to praise

Local dealership is pushing XT5s, not Blazers. A co-worker went in and asked about the Blazer and the sales person went to XT5 leasing and finance terms which are both better than Blazer.

No wonder I have still not seen a Blazer in the wild!

FWIW I really like the styling of the Blazer. It's much more adventurous and sexy than the Passport and Edge. Where GM screwed up is pricing and interior quality which seems to be their usual problem here lately. The Passport interior may be a clone of the Pilot but the materials are better assembled and feeling and you get the standard 3.5 V6 which is smoother and less raucous than the 3.6 V6 in the Blazer and certainly better than the laggard 2.5 4 cylinder.

If GM dropped the price $4k across the board and made the safety equipment standard on every trim I bet sales would double within a few months.

I don't think the Blazer is the result of a "mailed in" effort, it's actually pretty good looking. The XT6 on the other hand...

No...the Blazer may not be a mailed in effort or effortless. I feel the Blazer is Poochie the Dog in car form.
