In the course of "vetting" a vice presidential running mate, U.S. Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden might have accidentally spilled General Motors' future product plans.
In an 80-second campaign spot posted on Biden's Twitter account Wednesday, Biden surprises by not talking about politics but cars, and his love of the Corvette and the American car market. In it, he says, "They tell me" that GM is making an all-electric version of its iconic sports car that will go 200 mph.
Turns out there are plans. Someone familiar with Corvette production at its Bowling Green Assembly in Kentucky confirmed to the Free Press there is a plan for an all-electric version of the Corvette, but the timing and its maximum speed are unknown.
The electric version is likely at least two years or more out, the person said, noting it will follow GM's performance versions of the car due to market over the next year. The person declined to be named because there was no authorization to speak to the media.
GM spokesman Jim Cain, when asked about an electric Corvette, said company policy is to decline to discuss future products.
So the (assumed) Democratic candidate drives an old Corvette. Anyone know what the (assumed) Republican candidate drove before he won the last election?
Quick internet search turns this up:
According to Trump, Cadillac gave an Allante to him as a gift and it was painted in Donald’s favourite colour Gold.

Not sure why any political candidate (or president) is privy to a corporations future plans unless it is defense related. I'd take anything said with a grain of salt, the source could've been a car mag and not real inside info.
Though a source from the Corvette plant is a lot more compelling. Not really a surprise either way....
Even defense related, rarely does one know the tech or capabilities unless they are working on it. You might know it’s the next gen stealth or something like that, but what it can actually do.... very few
I'm sure no one wants to receive a vacation, right? So why inject politics? Why feel so compelled to respond? Keep your DC gossip to yourself for the love of god.
For me - This feels like Non-News. I believe there was a rumor 2-3 years back the the C8 platform was being designed to accept not only a front electric motor for awd, but also to be fully electric.
This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
