GMI Quick Fang: MY 15 Holden Cruze SRi 6A

Presented as the basis of an assault on international markets, the Cruze had mixed success in Asia and Australia. Less convincing was its reception in Europe. Now, after 6 years, the delta Cruze is winding down.

Due to be replaced in some regions, with regional products in the coming months, we see if there are any legs left in Australias unique locally made and tuned 1.6 turbo package.

What's with the professional look? Where'd the old mikmak go? I miss the sunglasses, tanktop, and fauxhawk hair!! Great review as always. You should hot rod your own wagon SRi, you'd be the envy of everyone!

Almost forgot, will it do a handbrake turn? How's the burnout factor?

Love your style as well and music choice! Also refreshing that to didn't spend half the review on the plastic used on the glove box. I don't give a rats a$$ either, I don't sit there fondling my interior either, especially in a car in the Cruze's segment. As long as the shifter, steering wheel and armrest are all quality, the rest of the car rarely ever gets touched.

Still a shame Chevy never made a version of this for the USA.

Nice review. The Cruze is good at what its intentions are, being a frugal daily commuter with a little bit of fun wrapped in, with enough room to tote the family around. And with probably over 2 million Deltas and Thetas sold annually, the Cruze is cheap to maintain and get parts for, should you keep it long enough.

Nice review Mick. I see they use the same blinker sound as the Commodore - the noisiest one I have ever heard and have had people complain when they are on the other end of the phone. My son mounted his Go-Pro to the outside of the sunroof the other day - you could hear the blinker click from outside !

I am tone deaf, but I must also be plastic deaf as well. Reviewers seem to rave about the plastics in European cars but have always complained about the Australian built cars. I can't tell the difference between the plastic in my wife's Audi and my Commodore. The Cruze I assume is similar to the Commodore which would make it a nice place to be.

...better than being outside it coz you don't have to look at that nose....

Everyone here thinks it's just as fugly as you all do. We have no idea where GM came up with this abortion of a design for the front end. So it's not really fair to call this a Yankee thing.

Re: GMI Quick Fang: MY 15 Holden Cruze SRi 6A

Thanks for the compliments gents. I found the front end became less disruptive after just a few days. Now I see other variants and think how plain they look. On the flip side, the base model of the new face is pretty odd to look at.

RE: Fauxhawk, It's kind of back now though in a slightly more blended variant. The reason I'm looking professionallish is because I now struggle for time to get this reviews done. Most occur during my trip to work or to drop the cars off after work so it's office dress. I don't think I'd get away with a tank top. The fauxhawk is pushing it already.

I have a bunch of Hyundai stuff I can present if you're interested. I place a poll in the Site news.

It's a Korean design. If you want Yankee Design look at the Dodge Dart

Re: GMI Quick Fang: MY 15 Holden Cruze SRi 6A

    Good review.

Got one of these (1.8L auto) when my daughter's Suzuki Swift lost its front to a red-light runner Boxing Day 2013 (Landcruiser 1, Swift 0). Needed something more substantial.

I drive it a couple of times a month... for what it is good safe reliable transport... nothing flash. Plastics are fine.

Pet hates... I quickly found out why the passenger seat is always well pushed back... that protruding dashboard just loves to attack kneecaps. I'm only 5'9" but far too often manage to knock my head getting into the thing. 1.8 engine is thrashy and gutless, just right for a 19yo girl.
