The link you posted gives a guesstimated starting price of £54,000 UKP - JLR have previously stated that LR pricing will move up closer to RR.

On a schoolboy level of economic theory, the most profitable response to demand exceeding supply is to increase the price until they match!

Oh sorry I was quoting some guy in the comments section who sounded as though he had inside (dealer?) info. He said it would start at 50,000 pounds. I got the impression from one of his posts that he/she has actually seen the vehicle.

I don't disagree with you, but my God, they are gorgeous! I had been lusting after an Evoque for some time, and I like the proportions of these even better. Want to get one for the wifey, but she's happy with her Escape.

I'm really liking the stance of the new Discovery 5. Even mildly disguised it still looks great.

Looking at the video it appears that the D5 still has a split tailgate (YAY!) or possibly I'm seeing the the cargo screen and it deploys electrically from the tailgate? Anyhow hopefully it's a split tailgate.

Off-road wise I'd have to vote on the Cherokee.

But did this have the ZF 9 speed with the super low 1st gear which is kinda like a low?

That's a good question but I never tested it on terrain that required low range. I wouldn't take this car where it required low range either. The side walls are too short, which means you can't deflate for sand, and you're sure to damage a rim if you're rock crawling.

The Cherokee Sport Trailhawk I drove last year (?) was a bit more suited to rougher roads and had better departure angles, but the DiscoSport does everything else better.

    It's a looker.

My reservation with Land Rover is, as always, durability. Their products have always seemed as if they were developed by a company that was teetering on the edge of solvency. I really like the Disco Sport.
