What is it that you focus on when selecting your new car? Is it fun? Is it function? Is it price? Everyone has their own criteria and typically we whittle down a short list, and in some cases, only drive 2 or 3 contenders.

Manufacturers and designers have a finite amount of cash to spend in developing their product. That means, if money is spent on handling, then features may suffer. Conversely, if cash is spent on features, you may end up with an affordable, yet unlovable mobile phone on four wheels.

So what's the answer? Test drive more cars!

    We like:
    Handling
    Tight body style
    perky 1.6 DI
    Cutesy-ness
    7 Year Warranty

I think the Rio has become Kia's sore point in the range. They've left it severely under equipped compared to its competition (in the upper specs anyway) and their RRP is a joke considering.

I will say that as an owner of a Cerato SLi, if the car in the video was the car you were driving... you had an Si not a SLi. Not a drastic difference between them anymore but the larger tyres give you a little more sport in feel. But yes it's not a sports car.

EDIT: I just watched the last 30secs of your vid. The car does have a full size spare in it.

I don't think there is anything empirically wrong with the Cerato. It was smooth quiet and well equipped but there is no reward for getting it right (or wrong). Rio actually does the driving part of its job really well.

What i hate with Korean cars is the low resell value, but I love how they look and drive.

That's a fair cop commonplay. I think their resale will get better as the value of the 7 year warranty sinks into the market.
