I like the style of the wheels, but it drives me crazy that they didn't bother designing "left" and "right" versions. I hate that they look different depending on which side of the car they're on.

It's funny. I never noticed it until you mentioned it. Non-symmetrical wheels are a weird idea anyway. It makes having a spare wheel only half as effective...

Fantastic read as always!! I've been following you on IG so it's nice to finally see the end product. The Lacrosse seems like such a nice ride!!!

Great review as always. I enjoy reading them and getting your take on things. The La Crosse is a beautiful car, it's just too bad it doesn't do better in these days of the SUV. I'm one of those that think it has somewhat more of a presence in person than photographic.

Re: GMI Drives: Buick Lacrosse Premium

    Excellent write up, Mick!

A friend of mine is the General Manager of a Buick/GMC/Chevrolet dealer here in NJ. That's where I get to test most of the
new GM vehicles that come down the pipeline. (I also have a friend that's a VP of an auto group here that owns, among 7 other brands, a Cadillac franchise. But that's a bit further away from me, so I don't get out there too often to drive the new Caddies)

Anywho, when the current gen LaCrosse hit the lots here last year, I drove a car that would be the twin of the car Mick drove for his trip to the Grand Canyon, and subsequently, for the review we just read. That Green paint is to die for, as it looks almost black until it's hit by direct sunlight or another very bright light source.
It's a shame the color is going away.

I pretty much agree with everything that Mick wrote regarding the LaCrosse. I found it to be very comfortable, but it never felt like the floating boats that old "big" Buicks were. I'm a pretty simple fella who doesn't really need many amenities. This car had (I think) everything that was offered on the LaCrosse at the time, except AWD. I probably wouldn't order a LaCrosse with all those extras. But I did like the Dynamic Driving pkg, and the Bose Centerpoint sound system was enjoyable!

Thanks for the review... It brought back some good memories of both the LaCrosse and the Grand Canyon!

Great write up, Mick, you have a talent for the travelogue. Great find you were able to catch the 1957 Buick Roadmaster as counterpoint to the new Buick. Desert Southwest is a great place to drive, as you noted, sparsely populated and lots of wide open spaces.

    Good show.

What a beautiful car. Too bad it's failing in the marketplace to sell.

The world has gone one size smaller and gone cuv crazy...

That Buick is lovely to look at and I'm sure a wonderful driving experience ..

Thank you for your interesting perspective and insights. I hope you, your son and your mom had a nice journey.

Thanks for the comments and those that followed along. It sounds like this car segment as a whole is on borrowed time. I wonder if the Regal can take up the slack.

It's an excellent large luxury sedan in a market that isn't wild about large luxury sedans.

I'd pick the LaCrosse over the Lexus ES in a heartbeat.
