The 70 certainly is a good workhorse, like the defender 110.

You also see a lot of high mileage 80 series and 200 series still going strong and selling for good money because they're bullet proof and comfortable

I don't like the 80 series because I'm over 6 foot tall. Leg room is very minimal.

I see lots of less than year old Toyotas with fading paint here in So Cal, heck I used to own one and it faded.. its also a factor of where the vehicle is mostly parked.

Bottom line, take good care of your cars, My Chevrolets have always been dealer serviced, I will not hesitate to replace an interior piece trim that a kid broke or repaint the vehicle at Chevrolet when wife scratches it.

Reasonable use of machines means they will require maintenance.

My Corolla was dealer maintained, a 2002, conked out in 2006 with an engine that had built in slug in the motor. Why I have no idea. It was my sixth Toyota, why that motor went bad, who knows.. But the interior trim pieces of that car were horrible, they would peal like crazy, had the door panels replaced twice in that car and the roof cloth pealing off..

    Anyways..

If Toyota is your religion, so be it, I have since moved on.
Toyota (Even the same model stupidly enough) sold in USA is quite a different animal to that in Aus. A few years back (when 'straya was still building cars), Toyota Australia actually imported a US Camry which was (on paper anyway) the same spec as what was being sold here to figure out why the American version was coming in significantly cheaper. In short, there is a reason for it and differences in labour rates was a very minor player. As a car to have, I'd prefer to have the Australian version every day of the week. Mind you, a Camry is about as high on my priority list as Tuberculosis.

Hahaha ever tried a GQ Patrol? I bought a 200 a couple of weeks ago. Much better but still not great for interior room considering the overall size of the vehicle

Nope - I presume it's the same as a Ranger? I found the Ranger near enough to same same with the Colorado from the driving position when I last drove one a year ago.

Ranger and Colorado are the closest in interior room of all the duel cabs

I find the rear seats of the Colorado is probably the largest also
