Re: OnStar Service Can't Unlock Car with Child Inside

Sorry, can't figure out how to properly post the video....

Anyway, what a pile of BS. The woman and people up in arms against OnStar are for all intents saying they don't want to pay for the service but expect it to work when they need it. And on top of it she is driving around in an expensive vehicle - if she has the kind of money to buy what she's driving, she has the money for OnStar.

Everyone's fault but the lady who locked her kid in the car and the same lady that didn't want to break her window. Zero sympathy for her, though I am glad they did free the kid.

Greedy people, but GM is the bad guy.

I agree. If I deemed my child in danger, I'd bust out a window, ASAP. But noooooooo…., I am going to waste time triflin' on the phone, so I can make a video.

I agree with you. People need to "man up" and take responsibility for their own actions and blame for their failures instead of trying to deflect and shift it to someone or something else. On her.

No different than people who buy insurance after they have a problem. I knew one couple who the woman thought she had breast cancer, and THEN bought health insurance. Or another friend who took a mirror off coming into their garage. He called and told the agent what happened. The agent's response was "Are you sure no one side swiped your car?" Most people don't want to pay the comprehensive deductible. Or I knew someone else who keyed their own car to get a free paint job. I find all this behavior disgusting, but nothing shocks me anymore.

One word: lawsuit. That's all that matters. Funny how years ago children dying in closed cars was a rare event, now we have 1 or 2 stories a week on the news. Put down your phones people! There's more important things in your life then that text message. Now everyone is screaming for stupid software in the car to "remind" you to check the back seat. Maybe we need more responsible parents.

I get your point, though I have to admit I've forgotten things myself - though not an entire child.

Re: OnStar Service Can't Unlock Car with Child Inside

My wife and her husband at the time, were visiting a Cadillac dealer. Their son was about 5 years old and his father put him into a Cadillac on the showroom floor. Of course, the kid pushed the door lock button down and refused to open the door. The dealer got the keys, but every time they tried to open the door, the kid pushed or held the button down. It took a while before someone got the idea to get the second set of keys and while his mom kept him occupied at door number one, they opened the other door with the second set of keys.

My stepson is now about 50 years old and is still a pain in the butt.

My impression of children is that they are hard to forget about because children make noise & try their hardest to be the center of attention. I guess cell phones are still to blame since so many parents hand an electronic device to the child in order to keep them quiet.

Some more BS coming from the far left. GM has opened my doors as a courtesy when I misplaced my keys once. They also navigated me out of a dangerous area when I was almost out of gas. All w/o having paid for OnStar (free). I'm sure they'd do it for anyone in real need, but how are they to know if a kid is lockup in a hot car?

Re: OnStar Service Can't Unlock Car with Child Inside

The kicker to all this is that I think OnStar still provides "keyfob services" for free for a lot of cars of recent model years. She might not even have had to pay -- just register.

There have been a lot of stories in my area lately about idiots who leave their cars running with their dogs inside and the cars unlocked. Then, they're shocked and appalled that the cars and pets get stolen. I'd like to see those dog owners charged for animal cruelty and animal endangerment.

Yesterday at the grocery store, I parked next to an ATS that was unlocked and running -- not remote started, since the whole dash was lit up -- with a Cocker Spaniel in the back seat. I went into the store, bought a couple of things, came out and the dog was still there in the unlocked car. If I had more nerve, I would have moved the car over a few spaces.

Inept parents of feral children are an epidemic in this country, something must be done.

I bet times gone by they would have smashed a window and nobody would find out that they were THAT stupid to lock a kid in the car + the kid would likely ride in the FRONT not in the BACK "sedated" with a "device"

I remember when a baby basket on the front seat was an acceptable "car seat" and the "safety belt" was you dad's or mom's arm as they came to an abrupt stop!
